Ever since it has been bought by new owners, I’ve seen a real shift. I loved Savin Rock Roasting Company, don’t get me wrong! Have lived here for 8 years. But you can tell The Breakwall is trying something different when it comes to creating a destination and source of entertainment on the West Haven Shoreline. The Trivia on Tuesdays is the best Trivia I’ve been to in a long time — super old school way of reading out the answers and getting the entire restaurant involved. I’ve enjoyed all the live music they’ve had on Thursdays and Saturdays. And the FOOD (which is the most important thing) is amazing. I love their specials and always get excited when they publish new ones. You have to try all of the different egg rolls they do — the Philly Cheese Steak Egg rolls are to die for. I love their drink choices — always good options on draft. Happy there are some new owners who have respected what residents used to love ab the old restaurant, while bringing a fresh perspective and new life to the West Haven food scene.

The Breakwall is a great addition to the area! Came here today for Sunday lunch and was not disappointed! Delicious food at reasonable prices, all along with a cozy atmosphere. Dawn treated every person who walked in like a regular coming in for the 100th time! We will be back for Sunday brunch once it starts and Tuesday trivia night!

My husband and I just left there about an hour ago. All I can say is I am so looking forward to going back again and again and working my way through the menu! We had the Shrimp Po Boy and it was delicious! I had seasonal mixed veggies and my husband had the sweet potato fries and both were very good. They gave me a side of their house made honey mustard to dip the fries in and it was amazing! Dawn who waited on us was really friendly and took excellent care of us. We had the house made bread pudding for dessert and it was wonderful! I had vanilla ice cream with it and that too was delicious. I highly recommend this establishment!

Went to The Breakwall last night with some buddies & had an awesome experience! The new owners, Brendan and his wife, were extremely friendly while the staff followed suit.

Ok here it goes.. I guess not all reviews are rosy.. Someone has to post that negative review and I guess I am that person. We were there last night (6PM) just before live music, which was a plus, place was somewhat empty. There were 4 in our party. we put in the drink orders then app and dinner order. well the apps came out then it took 1.5 hrs for our food to arrive. why? No clue and no answer given. Meanwhile the place quickly turned into a daycare center. Nothing against kids in restaurants but when they are allowed to climb the window and sit on the window sill, behind the bench seating, and play with the shades and climb all over the place that is shame on the parents. We notice this group of people and 4 other tables who came in well after we did got served and had their meals already served and eaten and nothing at our table. Then finally bar tender yelled over to our table 5 minutes, which turned in to another 25 minutes. Wife and I just ordered grilled cheese & Cheeseburger and and a garlic bowl app. Bill came and it was $75 (pretty expensive for what we had),. wife had ordered 2 drinks (each drink price was almost more than the entrée price). I would have thought seeing that we waited over an hour for the food it would have been nice for them to comp at least 1 drink… Nope. .nothing… food was just ok.. Not worth the price and definitely not worth the wait. Sorry for the long post but unfortunately you only get 1 chance at making a 1st impression and this one fell short big time. Sorry guys.. I do wish you the best of luck but you will need to resolve some of these issues going forward. Just an FYI I still left the waitress a 20% tip. It wasn’t her fault our food took forever to get to us. Somebody dropped the ball…

We went here for the 1st time last night and we decided to try a few appetizers…the steak & cheese eggrolls (delicious), the chicken quesadillas (delicious) but the steak nachos were awful… they use these weird puffy tortilla chips which tasted good but not suitable for nachos because they’re too flaky and they fall apart VERY easily with the toppings on them, we tried to eat them but had to use fork to eat the crumbs. Also the only thing on the nachos with the steak ($6 extra) and flavorless pico and cheese…nothing else…no beans, jalapenos etc. Lastly we ordered wings 1/2 jerk & 1/2 garlic parmesan…these were THE WORST. They were cold, rough & FLAVORLESS…the chicken was not seasoned AT ALL. It was like someone shook them frozen into a fryer and then basted them with the sauce which wasn’t good and barely had any kind of discernable flavor. The ambiance, decor and vibe was great and the owner was extremely nice and personable, so we’ll likely be back but we won’t be ordering those awful nachos & definitely no wings.

Went there for lunch. There were about 30 people in the bar and restaurant. The bartender/owner was able to take care of all of us. Me and my friend got burgers and they were outstanding. I truly enjoyed it. There will be bumps in the road as they are just starting out with staff to customer ratio when they have an influx of patrons at once however I got a good feeling that they will have minimal issues because of the owner’s desire to please.

We love the changes that came with the new name. The menu is great. Service is wonderful and Katrina did a great job with the website. Having live music is great as well, reminds me of the beach scene in the 70s and 80s.

Ate there for the first time tonight. Met the owner, Brandon, who greeted us (and everyone else) as we walked in. He took our order, and we were served drinks and appetizer very quickly. All good was cooked as requested. It took some time to get our bill, but by that time, the place was very busy, so it was understandable. Going back Tuesday night for dinner and trivia. Met Brandon’s (the owner) wife as well. Lovely couple. I wish them the best. Brandon did say that he would be changing the name of the place, and some of the menu, since he just recently bought it.
