Mondays are 50% off oysters which are a perfect start for our meal. Our entrees (steak frites, swordfish) were cooked well and flavorful. Ambience is nice for a date night.

Bull and Beggar is located in a small string of shops in the art district. It has a very cozy and warm vibe. It has an upscale feel to it but would be fine to go dressed up or dressed down some. We did make a reservation ahead of time so I’m honestly not sure what kind of wait you would have, but we went on a Sunday night and it wasn’t overly crowded. My husband and I ordered the bread with their charred onion butter and it was warm and melty with a great crisp to the outside. We shared the Cote de Boeuf and it was fantastic! It has the perfect amount of char on the outside and was tender on the inside. The waitress did give us a heads up that it would take a little longer to prepare, and it did, but we didn’t feel like we waited an unreasonable amount of time on it. We did not add any sides to it because it does come with an arugula salad with a light citrus dressing, and it is a huge steak as well. It was plenty for us! We still agreed that it may be slightly overpriced, but it was definitely worth trying for a date night.

Love the ambiance. Our waitress bent over backwards to accommodate my food allergies. The Skate Wing was a first for me and may be my favorite fish ever! So much flavor. My mouth waters remembering it.

The best French food I’ve had in America. They stay true to the concept: traditional dishes made with the highest quality ingredients, prepared using classic techniques.

Another fantastic meal at our favorite avl spot. The rosti and the dessert were a bit disappointing this time but everything else was stellar especially the atmosphere and service.

Went here with two friends for a late dinner with drinks. Service was superb. This is an European pub style restaurant and bar. You will find some gems on the menu. I tried the salmon tartine, pork belly, chicken pot pie, and sticky toffee pudding. Everything was excellent. Prices are on the high side but sometimes you get what you pay for.

Absolutely fabulous meal and all round experience. The food was cooked perfectly and we had a wonderful meal. That was the best Filet Mignon I’ve ever eaten in my life. The “frites” a.k.a. “French fries” didn’t belong on the same plate with that steak. Otherwise, the meal was near perfection.

We accidentally stumbled on this place and it was a complete surprise. 30 minutes before closing and we were treated with the utmost care and precision. Matt gave us impeccable service and the food was mind blowing. We had a variety of small plates. The foie gras was outstanding, I highly recommend the pork belly and we had the lamb shoulder pie. We discovered that escargot are high in protein and these were by far the best I have ever had in my life! Then we topped it off with the MUST have sticky toffee pudding! Thank you so much for such a memorable meal!

For myself, I find it to be the best restaurant in Asheville. You don’t want to miss a bite. Sop up all the gravy with bread, it’s that good. Had the lamb and cote’ de boeuf. Perfect. Also, they have seasonal dishes. I saw different items the last time we ate here. Try the gimlet. They sprinkle dill on top. So smooth.

Nice Vibe, foods a little pricey and parking on a weekend night was full but I am just looking hard for negatives. The menu is unique , so if you want to eat something different but still tasty and refined, this is the place
