Took my mom here as an early Mother’s Day gift. She ordered the crab burger and crab soup, said the burger was great. I ordered the coconut shrimp pasta, the pasta was good, but not a fan of the shrimp I think I would have just preferred a different style. The lava cake was the best I’ve had. My daughter enjoyed it. The server was very professional and knowledgeable, she recited the menu more than once by memory for us. We ate outside, as it seemed more loose and comfortable. 5/5 food was good, atmosphere family friendly and the workers next door were even polite to us.

We highly recommend! We’re from the Pinehurst area and were here on vacation. This restaurant put all of our “fanciest” restaurants back home to shame! The food and service was some of the best we’ve ever had. The atmosphere was very comfortable and not stuffy at all. The waitress made excellent recommendations and was very enjoyable. We had the Cambodian egg rolls, lemon chicken soup, the pork special, the chefs breast entree, bourbon bread pudding, and the molten lava cake. If we ever come back to the area, we’re definitely stopping here!

Wonderful discovery on the way home from the beach. The waitstaff was amazing. The “frog” was a gracious host. The food was beautiful and delicious. The she-crab soup was some of the best I’ve ever had. We ordered the filet mignon and the roasted pork belly with chimichurri sauce. We topped our meal off with delicate meringue with a caramel cream sauce. We will definitely be returning to try some of the other dishes on the menu.

First time visit after friends’ recommendation. Brittany was a friendly server. The owner was nice enough to visit our table and we chatted for 5-10 minutes. Husband and wife team (wife is the chef) on Main Street in Whiteville. Steak entree was fabulous, large portion. Friend thought the crab cakes were outstanding. Price very reasonable. Very nice people. Open only Thursday – Sunday. Would love to go back.

We stopped In for the full menu but we were surprised to find a brunch-only menu on Sunday. It is a nice brunch menu- we had the Mediterranean omelette. Food was delicious and if the eggs are this good I can’t wait to try the REAL menu. Clean, friendly, and obviously a loved space. It was packed.

I reside in Los Angeles and have had the best experiences with fine dining. I went to Whiteville NC for an event and our group went to The Chef and The Frog for dinner. To be honest in a small town I wasn’t expecting much. However the experience was 5⭐️! The wait staff couldn’t be better she took our orders and made sure we had everything. She was on top of everything. Checking on us clearing empty plates, refilling bread and water. The food? What a hidden nugget to have the best food I’ve ever had. The chefs technique with seasoning and heat made with the finest ingredients was incredible. The finest meat was precise to our request and the pastas were hand made. We found out the chef is a celebrated world class Michelin Star Chef! The owner came out personally to meet us he too was gracious and introduced himself and his wife The Chef! What a memorable experience and worthy of a trip back!

Everything and I do mean everything here is absolutely prodigious! From the beginning when you pull up the artwork on the sign, until time to pay the check you will not be let down! When you walk through the door the ambience just pulls you in. Find a seat and spend some time. Our waitress Morgan was fantastic. Everything she recommended not only sounded great but the tase, exquisite! I mean I rarely get this excited about a restaurant and rarely give a 5 star, perfect review. The Chef and the Frog is certainly the exception. The soup of the day was cream of squash and goat cheese soup. Mwahh. Wonderful. Creamy. Flavorful. The French onion was just as compelling! It may sound wierd but the chicken quesadila was full and flavorful! Dare I say the best I have had?! The dish of the day was the Cambodian Beef. When I say flavor bomb I mean FLAVOR BOMB! This was so good I ordered another to take home for dinner. The owner came out and spoke with us for a minute and that elevated our experience even more! He was so kind. His wife is the chef and let me tell you he loves that woman! We met her briefly as well and you can tell she puts her heart in her food. We ended the meal with bananas foster. That was just bananas! The best I have ever had! They make all deserts home made. No boxed ingredients. Everything is fresh. Do yourself a favor and try this place out. You will thank me and your taste buds will thank you!

I enjoyed the Shrimp and Grits. I loved the Blueberry Cobbler. I would drive the distant just for the cobbler. Excellent waiter & waitress! They checked often to make sure we had everything we needed.

I was visiting Whiteville conducting a high school honor band for the weekend. I stopped in hoping to get my first meal of the day. Ha ha. And I’m so glad I did. This place is a little gem. Handmade everything. The staff is incredibly friendly and made me feel right at home. Do yourself a favor and order something that has the homemade blue cheese dressing, and finish your meal with the bananas foster. You won’t regret it.
