This was our first time at the Chicken spot and we had a good time. We tried the platter option with a combo of chicken tenders and shrimp. While the portion sizes were good, I found the seasoning a bit on the saltier side. The fry was crispy, crunchy and definitely not oily or soggy, which was perfect. The dip options were slim, we went with ranch. Apart from the food, I think the service was slow, even during a regular week night. Overall, I think place is worth a try to satisfy a some crunch cravings.

Prices went up. Quality apparently did not. It wasn’t terrible, but there is so much room for improvement. When you walk in, it is dark (in the middle of the day), and nothing but explicit rap is playing over the speakers. Everything I touched felt sticky, and the bathroom needed a pressure washer taken to it. First thing I noticed when I sat down was the prices have gone through the roof. The drink I ordered wasn’t terrible, but it was weak and $10. I built my own boil because I’m not trying to spend $40 on some seafood at a hole in the wall chicken joint. The food came out quick and hot. There was absolutely no way the entire half pound of shrimp was in there (approximately 10 of the small shrimp is nowhere near a half pound). The sausage was plentiful and tasted good. The “2 potatoes” were two potato halves, but that didn’t really matter because they were still raw, and I couldn’t eat them anyway. The girl behind the bar was nice, but spent most of her time talking to the only other person in the place about her life’s issues.

First time here at The Chicken Spot. Loved the atmosphere. The people were personable as well. The food was fair priced and absolutely delicious. Definitely recommend and will be going back next time in town. We tried the garlic Parmesan wings. Best wings I’ve ever had.

The food was absolutely horrible!!! We ordered a fish basket, fish po boy, wings, garlic boiled crab legs, rice with gravy and a slice of cheesecake. The fish was burnt on both orders and the wings were barely done. There was no spoon to eat the rice with gravy. The cheesecake was just a slice of store bought cheesecake so where could you go wrong. I will not be ordering from them again and I wouldn’t recommend that anyone else do either.

Went on vacation with my hubby, the second day at Virginia Beach we stop at the chicken spot. The lobby was clean, the bathroom needs remodeling. The only thing I did not like was the food. I ordered 2 pieces fried chicken and the chicken need pepper, salt and much more, did not have a good taste. The rice with gravy was not good, the collard greens taste like the can out of the store.

The owner needs to read this ASAP. This place was awesome! I have been tons of times and invited a big group after the music on the beach. The bartender was doing everything jer could and we had plenty of good drinks fast. But we waited over an hour for food. The cook tried to give us someone else’s food that had been sitting out. There were at least ten bags sitting there from customers that had walked out. When we tried to talk about it the cook came out and tried starting a fight with everyone. My entire 9 top table and another 6 top left after 1 hour and 30 minutes with no food. All in all the owner lost 400-500 dollars on walkouts and the experience was absolutely atrocious. I hope they read this and realize they need to take control or lose this location.

The only way to write this was with a one star review. Going into an establishment with a group of six, everyone ordering and getting food except myself and my boyfriend. No problem, mistakes happen. And hour and a half later, no food. I went up to the bar the get my check and said I didn’t want the food, the “cook” came out and tried to give me another guests food and yelled in my face asking what else I wanted. As a restaurant owner myself, I never want any customer to visit this place and have an experience like I did.

Fortunato is the best! So personable and attentive! Come see him! This spot has a chill, lowkey vibe. Come hang with your friends and/or significant other…and actually be able to talk. The music sounds great. Play cornhole, sing karaoke, or watch the game on one of the many TV screens.

The owner needs to read this they are running your business to the ground. This place is a joke. Over an hour for the food. The staff was incrediblely rude. The food they handed us was someone else’s food and they told us there was nothing they could do. The cook tried starting a fight with us. My entire table got their food and drinks for free. There were 9 of us hundreds of dollars out the door. I hope you know about that.
