Times are tough now with staffing but they are keeping up. We had four breakfasts, one lunch, two dinners and drinks in the pub during our stay. All meals where very good and the wing night special is great.

Now we didn’t get anything fancy, but what we did get was delicious. We got the zucchini plank appetizer, which was good. I ordered the cheese steak sandwich which was fantastic, and was actual steak. It wasn’t chewy or fatty either. My husband had the chicken club which he enjoyed very much. The service was perfect. The waitress did not fail to check in regularly and drink refills were prompt. We ate in the tavern. It was like an old fashioned pub, which was fun. Definitely recommend stopping here when passing through Berkeley springs.

I have been here several times for special events (Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day) and it is a good atmosphere and kind staff. Sadly, when they do buffet food (Mother’s Day), it is not worth the money it costs. When it is ordered from a menu (Valentine’s Day) it is so much better.

This place is not welcoming of families. This evening, my family of four, including a well behaved toddler and an infant, was waiting to be seated. An employee with pink hair noticed us. She said “oh no, more babies.“ She later told us she did not mean it in an offensive way. Not sure how else she meant it. The hostess finally arrived and told us that she was booked with reservations. We called 15 minutes later, and were told a table for three was available for immediate seating. We felt completely unwelcome and humiliated by this experience.

We stayed at the Country Inn Hotel, had a massage at the associated Renaissance Spa and then had a lovely breakfast here at the restaurant. Service was great, staff were friendly, food was good and prices were reasonable. Coffee was particularly good. We will definitely be back.

WE almost left! Walking in the Inn, we could only see white linen service. oh. not what we wanted. so we determined to leave – but we stopped to look at the historical materials in cases in the hall, first (pretty cool). An employee walked up to us and asked if we wanted to eat. I explained that we were looking for something more casual. OH! She leads me to the Tavern – yes this is great. Then she had to see if they had a table be cause it was all reserved (note: NO ONE was at tables at that time – 5pmish – and no one else came until 6 – so that was a bit odd.)

I’m not a breakfast person, but I love the breakfasts at The Country Inn Restaurant. The servers are cheerful and attentive. Nice, old-fashioned ambiance in the dining rooms. Can’t wait to return.

Half price appetizers and $5.00 glasses of wine made the perfect stop for my Tuesday night stay. Waitress did disappear and I had to refill my own water glass,but the steamed dumplings, as well as the calamari, made for a tasty light supper. The house Cab was adequate too. I will visit again if I am in the area. Get a reservation, as they do fill up early.

Almost as soon as we sat down, I knew we had made a mistake 1) choosing to sit in the dining area and 2) coming to this place for lunch. If the melted cheese-colored wall accentuated by the warmly lit room wasn’t enough to make your stomach queasy, the 3 pages of incredibly boring, poorly described front and back lunch and dinner selections would do you in.
