A new favorite in the area, The Elm is brings a level of sophistication, execution and unique flavor profiles to Great Barrington that is missing. While the portion sizes are small, I have yet to leave unsatisfied. Service has been outstanding.

The service, food and ambiance was exquisite, friendly, and elevated but refreshingly unfussy. The wine selection is vast and has an option for every budget. They have a great cocktail list and even better for some a non-alcoholic list as well. We went with wine. Carmen, our server was knowledgeable, kind and funny as she walked us around the menu in the intimate, warm restaurant space. Her timing was spot on and we felt well cared very well cared for. Every dish was thought out with such precision and executed to make all memorable. The golden caviar, the Jonah Crab, the oysters with elderflower, those baby (green) almonds in the bass. The first bites of everything made us just stop and smile. The duck, the lobster mains. Oh! We wanted more, we wanted to just start again and order the whole menu. Overall, it was one of the finest dining experiences I’ve had in awhile and I work in one of the best French restaurants in the Mid-Atlantic region. Thank you all for your work and vision. See you again!

Hands down one of the best places in the Berkshires. The presentation was fantastic. The menu was creative, seasonal, elegant without being pretentious (and very reasonably priced). And that cornbread…

Extremely small portion sizes for the price, which normally we are fine with if the quality and flavor is there, which unfortunately it was not at this restaurant. My scallops were overcooked and chewy. My husband got the lobster and short rib meal, it was completely bland and lacked any flavor, we’ve had better frozen lean cuisine meals. There are much better choices in the area for dinner.

So my husband and I decided to try this spot tonight. Literally 10/10. Corey the bartender is amazing, Emma who does some of the cooking is just out of this world. Like the staff is spectacular, service was exceptional, I’m super sorry I didn’t get our servers name cause she was so sweet and my husband loves to drink a lot of water when he eats and usually is sad when the server doesn’t refill his glass, but at the elm that problem doesn’t exist! They are refilling constantly and don’t even gets me started on the food. I got the bread service, and the dip was to die for. I got the vegetable tart and was basically in a come cause it was so good. Then we got the cinnamon flan and I’ve already gushed so much about the other food I don’t even want to get into how incredible it was. It is expensive but it’s legit unlike any other place we’ve tried around here. We just moved from California and have been a bit disappointed with some of the food in this area, but The Elm literally shines like a diamond. This review is so long I know but I had to because it was that good. But I dare you to get the vegetable tart and then NOT write a review like this.

I made a reservation for 5:00 on a Sunday. We arrived at 5:05 and the door was locked and there was staff inside. They looked directly at me and looked away. We continued to wait outside until I looked on the website and it said they were closed at 4 on Sunday’s. So at that point we left and thought their reservation site was wrong. We were disappointed. We then went to dinner across the street and when we were done we went outside and realized The Elm was fully open and full of people. Really was looking forward to dining there and the situation was unacceptable.

We had lunch at the restaurant today and were unimpressed. We walked in to be ignored for a couple of minutes – place was deserted – to then have the bartender tell us from across the bar “grab any dressed table”…ok! There seemed to be no heat in the tall room, several patrons were wearing coats while at their tables. The Duxbury oysters were good, the lobster roll was structured on 90% thick, filling,
