This is a very busy lakefront restaurant. The patio seating outside was full, so we choose a table inside. It’s very loud. Service was ok. We had to go get someone to help us a couple of times, but it is summer and every place is busy in Okoboji on a weekend. You expect a lakefront bar to be hopping so you give some grace. The prices are pretty good. The specialty drinks come in funny-themed take home plastic glasses. The food is bar food: burgers, salads, wraps, wings, and pizzas. Everyone enjoyed their food. There was live music on the patio.

Great atmosphere, very poor service. Took an hour and 10 minutes to get our food, and then it was cold when we finally got it. Took another 20 minutes to get the bill after we had finished. They were very busy that day, but for spending this kind of money, it should have been better.

A more affordable place to eat in the tourist area. I liked that there was no extra charge for swapping beef with chicken and an option to have shrimp wings instead of chicken wings. The service was rather slow though. We didn’t get silverware until after our meal came.

Very disappointed with the service. I had ordered a Bikini Martini which was made of Malibu, vodka, and grenadine. It was served to me in a clear solo cup. After the server had passed out the drinks I asked for a straw to stir the drink. She then responded by saying “you don’t drink a martini with a straw” she then walked away and never gave me a straw. When she came back 20 minutes later for our food order we asked for the straw again where she rolled her eyes and never gave me a straw. She was rude to the entire group. Our service was very slow.. took about an hour and 1/2 to get our food. When we did get our food everything was cold and the wraps are very small proportions. I do not recommend this restaurant.

DO NOT GO HERE! On a Thursday night, place was very busy, but we found a table for our group of 5. Orders placed, soft drinks delivered (one wrong), and dinner order taken. We finally left an hour and 30 minutes later without ever seeing any food. This is a shabby bar in an old dump of a building over 40 years old trying to pretend it’s a restaurant. If you do not have the staff or equipment necessary to serve food in a reasonable amount of time—we were never updated on our order’s progress—then close down your pseudo-restaurant business and just be a dive bar. DO NOT GO ON THURDAYS. We literally waited 3 hours for broasted chicken. Three hours. Not kidding at all. 3. We were told it would be an hour. Then, the craziest part is we waited the 3 hours and it tasted absolutely terrible. Like a disgusting smoke taste. All the tables waited this long – not just us. Not trying to be a Karen. Just genuinely trying to warn people. We went on Monday and everything was fine. Service, food, everything. Just don’t go on Thursday!

There is no communication between staff, we waited over an hour and 20 minutes for food, the last one in our group to order was the first person to get their food. The chicken is frozen from a package. There is no remorse from staff. The potato salad is at least delish. Unfortunate because the view is great.

It took 35 minutes to get our drinks, never got waters. We went to the bar for waters. The food took an hour and 15 minutes. They have basically no vegetarian options on the menu and the food is very mediocre and overpriced imo. When our server came over finally after ignoring she told us she has no idea why we are mad (we never said we were mad or acted rudely towards her) and that our food hasn’t even taken that long. I think and hour and 15 minutes is actually pretty long time to wait for food at a restaurant. Especially when the 3 tables sat after us had food, drinks, and checks, before we even got drinks. She came to us and volunteered that, we had not complained. Don’t waste your time here, not worth it

We waited 2 hours for our food. Zero communication from the wait staff. Staff never checked up on us for our drinks. We had to go up to the bar to get them. One of our party had to ask 3 times for a beer. Alexis was our server and she ignored us the entire night. Alexis, if you are reading this please do not come in to work high. It is not a good look.

Twice now I have had a bad experience dining at The Gardens. My 6 year old and I came to eat, 1:30 ish…on the patio. We were asked what to drink and given menus. We ordered water. A family sat next to us after we were seated, was asked what to drink and then later asked what they wanted to eat. We hadn’t even received our water yet let alone ordered food but our waitress was sure eager to bring alcoholic beverages out to other tables. 15 minutes we waited for water. I’ve waitressed before and there are certain things you don’t do, as in over look customers because you THINK the tip won’t be sufficient. As we were leaving I stopped her and told her she didn’t bring us our water, & she had a tray full of alcoholic drinks she was running out. Disappointing.
