Great food and decor . That’s the only good thing about this establishment. Unfortunately they have the worst service I have ever had. Was hailed as one of the best places for brunch. I do not see how. I went back to back Sunday and Monday. My experience was still the same. Waited 1 hr and 30mins to be seated for brunch. Orders were being forgotten or never put into the system on top of being short staffed . I can’t knock the food but I would only ever get the food to go. The next day same experience with my server and music was extremely too loud .

I don’t see what the hype is about. Food is ok my wings were fried too hard but the sauce and fries were good. My husband ordered a burger and it took them an hour to bring his burger talking about they had to get the grill back up and when it finally came out I was already done eating. His Burger was plain on a Texas toast with cheese and some spinach leaves on the side. Plastic utensils, ketchup packets and ranch brought out in to go cups. Southwest egg rolls were the best out of everything! My husband ordered the dolph drink and I got the lemon drop cocktails are just weak as hell. Service also need help because the servers kept bringing the wrong food to our table. I didn’t take a pic of the burger but I wish I did.

They will never have to worry about me again. Went for an event & I waited literally until almost every patron was gone before I placed an order & yet I waited 45 minutes for some “15 minute” wings & fries. I watched almost every server make drinks for others AND THEMSELVES but NOBODY bothered to check on my food. I had to catch a different server & ask about my order, was told “they’re plating your food”. AND NOTHING CAME OUT. Then some older man comes out the back & says “they’re cooking yours fresh”. TH?! It’s been 25 minutes at this point, how fresh can it get? Before I knew it, 45 minutes had passed & I was livid. I asked for my money back & gtfo!! The 2 waiters who refunded my money & were kind, thank you. EVERYONE ELSE: DO BETTER!! Absolute awful experience!

Cozy quaint place. Seems relaxing. The food was okay. The server was awesome. I can’t remember our server name, maybe AL. One of the best servers I have had in a while. He did not hesitate to assure we were okay at our table. I will definitely be back for the relaxing atmosphere and server.

Today I visited the Genre for brunch & was pretty impressed. I first tried the reggae mimosa. Sooo not really sure what it consist of outside of champagne it’s like a secret elixir but it was so delicious! It was me and a few friends so I actually had an opportunity to try so 3 different dishes! Everything was phenomenal. First … the lamb chops and eggs. Divine. A twist from the normal traditional lamb chop sauce of mint jelly which I personally don’t care for. They had a sprinkle of Parmesan shred & they were incredible. They were tender, soft, juicy, grilled just right. Can’t wait to experience it again. The catfish and grits…. Perfect. Catfish was fried to perfection.

The Genre was an ENTIRE vibe! My family and friends were visiting from out of state and the staff welcomed us and made us feel right at home. I definitely plan on returning and recommending to others who may be visiting from out of town/state. The food was the best I had during my 5 day stay in Memphis. Support BLACK owned businesses and enjoy yourselves while doing so! Namasté

The only good thing about this place was the music and the ambience. The prices are drastically overpriced. Was charged $18 for an item called “The Big boy burger” only for it to literally be 2 slices of toasted wonder bread and a breakfast sausage patty I am not kidding at all. On the side to garnish was a few pieces of baby spinach not lettuce but baby spinach accompanied by the two pickles I ordered the egg rolls they were pretty good . The waitress says they are out of tomato and onions. I got the Dolph cocktail which tasted like cough syrup and fabulouso , I ask the server who gave me my drink as he placed it on the table what drink it was he replied he don’t know. I repeat the Music and the Dj is the only thing to look forward to with this establishment. And the hookah.

Vibe and atmosphere is nice . Birthday lunch , brunch , dinners, call before arriving just incase they are busy so you won’t make a blank trip . The food is to die for it’s cooked as you order. The waitresses are all polite & I️ mean polite ! Very nice restaurant.
