This is by far one of the best sushi spots in Detroit. Tucked away in Mexican Town, Goblin provides a variety of options at a great price. Their selection of rolls and drinks is fantastic! We sat outside when we went, they have seating inside and outside available on a weekday evening. The service was good, we got all our rolls together after a few rounds of drinks.

As a sushi lover, this place was quite disappointing. My friend and I decided to grab a bite to eat since Ima wasn’t available for service. The minute we walked in, we fell in love with the ambiance and decor. It’s a small restaurant, but it’s charming. However, the ordering process is confusing. The server asked us to sit down at a table and use the QR code to order our food. 5 minutes later she comes back and tells us to go to the front to order, leaving us completely thrown off.

Wow, great eating experience. We ordered random pieces of sushi plus a yellowtail bowl. Everything was very fresh and nicely put together. The place is small and not in a area I would expect but worth the trip. Staff is friendly and helpful, very mouth pleasing food

One here for my girlfriend’s birthday dinner and ended up ordering one of their party platters which was an excellent decision.

Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The food and sake was fantastic. I remember commenting on the quality of the rice and the tempura batter in the sushi rolls… Things that don’t normally stand out with sushi, but the difference it made . I highly recommend and thanks to Sam for being a great host!

Think of the Goblin as more of a sushi Cafe than a sushi restaurant. It’s a real gem in of all places, Mexican Village on Bagley west of Corktown and right behind the train station.

I ordered thru the website when I arrived to pick up, I wanted 2 Sapporo cans of beer. The person at the register insisted that I show my physical identification because I look so young…I am 51. Be ready for B.S. coming here. And definitely not the best sushi!! Not at all. Sushi is loose and not well put together. No one Japanese is behind the bar.

I went to the restaurant placed a order. Waited 45 to an hr in which my food was not prepared. When we asked the person behind the counter why several people who came after us received their food we were told it had to be put in the oven! Then the person making the Sushi asked what we ordered then said they didn’t make it and would make it now!!! That’s when I asked for a refund and still didn’t refund me back correctly. Now I’m waiting for a manager to call me back about my refund.

It’s so good to have a casual sushi bar that has a focused menu. This is a true sushi bar, with nigiri, a few classic rolls and some of the more modern ones, a small drink cooler, and well crafted sashimi bowls. The staff definitely cares and they don’t have a billion deep fried things like a lot of places do.
