If you havent tried Halal Guys yet, you better try it! Its a must try place with a rich history. It originally started out as a single food cart in NYC by an Egyptian immigrant. The food cart became so popular that people would line up in a line that spanned many blocks just to eat their food. Now they have many franchises across America.

Both Saturday workers were mentally checked out as they both were not fully listening to the customers. For my order and the customer ahead of me, asked for specific things but just accepted what the worker made as it was either too much hot sauce but they were sort of “ok” with it or the wrong items like combo of gyros and falafel but they automatically put beef and chicken but accepted it since I didn’t want to waste food. The meats were at least as dry as the rice and they forgot that I asked for hot sauce on the side, so I had to mention it again after I paid and tipped. I missed my lunch and tried this place, I think I was better off completely missing my lunch if I knew I was going to get this type of “food” and “service”.

The food was disgusting! I ordered the chicken sandwich and the chicken tasted like fish. The bread is stale and fell apart. I took two bites and threw it in the trash. Humus is bland and falafel sandwich was bland. The food is not even remotely close to being or tasting like authentic middle eastern. Only the fries were good. The inside was messy, tables weren’t clean. Skip this one and head somewhere else. First and last time here.

We come here on Sundays and it gets busy, but they manage to make customers leaving the place, satisfied. This is our 3rd time visiting here. Not sure about what other people say, but we always get great service here. The manager, himself helps in the line, taking our order. Then bring our food to our table when ready. Our gyro plate (which is our favorite to order), or any food we’d like to have, are always filled with pretty good amount of meat and toppings of our choice. And oh, I love their white sauce! The place is clean, and restroom is clean.

Very low quality food. You can tell by the immediate bloating effect you feel only a few bites in. Make the same simple dish at home and you can eat much more of it and feel fine. Avoid this place at all cost. You will be constipated eating here and guarenteed bloated all day.

I was really looking forward to eating here as I’ve eaten from their truck in Times Square in New York city. It is not as good.

So, the Hype was real after all. After watching endless videos on youtube about The Halal Guys and it’s rich history in New York with humble beginnings. We knew that we had to try this place when visiting Chicago.

It was decent. Not enough rice, and meat was cold.
