I love this place! This was my favorite Chinese food restaurant before I moved to Las Vegas 20 years ago. Now, I come here whenever I return to Hampton Roads to visit my kids. I’m never disappointed, the food is always delicious.

Love this place! They make many of their dishes GLUTEN FREE and have an entire VEGAN menu! The server was very helpful and kind.

This is old-school Chinese dining at its finest. Recommend the hot and sour soup. Nowadays, “Chinese” cuisine has become so Americanized that it seems that is all grease and sugar. Imperial palace reminds me of the restaurants I enjoyed in the 80’s. Good quality food and excellent service.

My daughter and I decided to try this place. The place was really busy at 7 pm on a Sunday evening. Waited at the desk to be seated for 10 minutes. People coming in to eat, wanting to check out, and food to be picked up. We were greeted by our server within 5 minutes of being seated. Great options on the menu. Prices are way too high for me. I ended up getting the crab soup bowl and an order of Lumpia. My daughter had an interesting dish in what I consider white sauce. Lots of shrimp. Her dish was $35. My soup was nearly $12 with the lumpia nearly $7 for 4 pieces. It took over 30 minutes to get our food. It was very warm in the restaurant. I don’t think the AC was either working right, or not low enough to make the dining area more comfortable. I don’t think I’ll go back because of the prices. Otherwise, waiting aside, the food and ambience were great. If you have the money, it is definitely a great choice.

My mother in law loves this place so my kids got her a gift card. Without informing them first they charged a service fee – ok but say so first. When my MIL went in for lunch the food was priced at $14.99, when she paid the ticket said $19.99! Watch out for the price

1/2 Peking duck, sweet and sour chicken, chicken Lo mein, fried rice, sweet and sour soup and 5 shrimp rolls. $87 dollars. Aweful, overcooked, greasy and unimpressive. Could have ordered the same from yummy wok in Ghent and had a better experience for $40 bucks less the duck of course which was salty rubber. I am a big sweet and sour soup fan and threw the whole container away after the first bite. Granted this was take out and folks tend to give shining reviews for eat in cuisine. Tonight was a huge miss. Aweful. Everything was the same color over cooked and terrible.

Their Tofu vegetable dry cook has increased in price ridiculously. If you order the vegetables by themselves and add tofu they charge 4 dollars. I feel they have become greedy. Chicken, pork, beef… all of that is more expensive than tofu. I have stopped going there. From 14.00 now it is 20.00.

This was our first time and we ordered takeout from the vegan menu: sesame pancake, governor’s tofu, and veggie pancit. It was all delicious!

Our server Caroline was a gem. She was friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and attentive. Our food was pretty average , triple delight and beef with broccoli. Wine was $12 a glass, and the specials were in the $30-45 range!! Excuse me, but what could justify this expense for very average tasting food. The live music was just embarrassing and in bad taste. If you’re looking for Americanized Chinese food, by all means, this is your restaurant. But if you want a better experience at a better price, then go someplace less like a Lawrence Welk village experience!
