In 1925 Arthur (Otto) and Josephine (stage name Ethye) Miller, from the “Marvelous Miller” ballroom dancing team who had danced around the world, retired and purchased a lodge on what is now the Sunrise Highway in Bay Shore and named it “Marvelous Miller’s Lodge”. At that time, the lodge was used as a summer resort and consisted of twelve bedrooms, two with private baths and two others with full baths. Otto and Josephine ran the lodge.
The attic was converted into sleeping quarters set up as a dormitory accommodating twelve beds which were rented to construction men who were working on the Pilgrim State Hospital project being built then.
Restored 1925 inn-turned-eatery with quirky, old-timey decor & classic American comfort food. Based on 250 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.0 stars. Price $$

My surprise Baby Shower was here a few weeks ago in the upstairs party room. It was great, perfect size, staff was very attentive and on top of everything!! The food was excellent and my family and I had a great time. I grew up in west islip/bay shore area and I’ve never been to JTI. I had so much fun thank you for all your hard work!!

Great atmosphere. Definitely a pub type place but the food is totally “restaurant quality”! The service is very friendly and efficient without hovering. I can’t say anything not even close to criticizing. Check it out… you’ll be glad you did!!

Went here with family. The waiter. I think he said his name was Patrick was awesome. He answered all our questions , gave us excellent suggestions and never rushed us. We stayed for at least two hours and had quality time with family. We were treated like gold. I’ve been in the business for over thirty years. There is definitely a return visit required. The food was great and not the usual bar food. It was truly refreshing. Good work guys. Oh I almost forgot the hostess. She was our first contact and made us feel welcome as if she knew us forever

I have been to this restaurant many times in the past and was always quite pleased. Coleslaw served was always a treat. Yesterday was very different. There were 5 of us needing g 4 checks for the table. This was told to the waitress immediately and agreed. The service was extraordinarily slow. Another table of 6 came into the same room but with a different waiter and they were served and left long before us. The food was ordinary, except for the spinach crab dip which was spectacular.

Very nice casual warm place. A great place for friends , family and or a table for two. I had a Grey Goose and a splash of Cranberry and the drink was made just right. I was asked by the waitress if I wanted a tall or short drink. I had a short drink and it was a nice size glass.. The burgers were a nice size and cooked perfectly

This was a cool place. Very old school vibe. The kinda of bar your dad hangs out at with much better food. Good place to catch up and have a conversation. Meal was perfect, beer was cold and the bar tender have the perfect amount of attitude to keep you on your toes. But….watch your step, I tripped like 3 times while there! I guess I can blame the beer

Visited the Jon Thomas inne for family dinner past Sunday evening and was very impressed with the modern renovated atmosphere of the bar and restaurant area. I’ve always heard great things about this place and went to town ordering from the appetizers menu because each one sounded more delicious than the next. I loved the Reuben egg rolls and wings were excellent, but the maple bacon app was outstanding. Everyone that had the French onion soup said it was one of the best they’ve ever had. The servers were very pleasant and helpful . The burgers were huge and very good , I had the tidbits steak sandwich which I kept all to myself. They even sang happy birthday to our mother and served us cake with candles for the celebration. The owner was extremely welcoming greetings us . I expected more of a bar type experience but the upkeep of the premises, which were spotless and all new, made for a wonderful family dining experience. I would highly recommend paying them a visit. Thanks

I went with a large party, but I have been going g to the JTI for more than 30 years, and for the first time I can say it was unenjoyable. The food was great, or I should say my food was great. The food came out at all different times and some was cold or just wrong. These things happen, but our waitress was terrible. The service was so bad, we just took our food to go. I understand about growing a business, but it felt like they left loyal customers behind. Sad

First time here and we weren’t disappointed. Excellently prepared steak, seafood broiled perfectly, very attentive and friendly wait staff and a really good bang for your buck. We’ll definitely make it a go to spot .

Simply a great local spot to have a beer, watch the games and if you’re into the ponies, there’s an OTB to place your bets. The food is good as well. Try the bacon, you will love it. Crowded at times but also quite at times makes this a perfect spot for a nice dinner and a great place to cheer for your favourite team.
