Last Friday, I was treated to dinner at The Leaning Tree, a restaurant my friend spoke very highly of. This is located just outside Wilson, and as my friend did, I highly recommend it! I felt comfortable instantly upon entering the lobby; everyone was hospitable and the dining area was gracefully decorated. What really impressed me was the taste of my entrée: marvelously delectable! I ordered salmon with zucchini + squash (which I smothered with the gravy that accompanied my fish). I tried my friend’s chicken, and I reacted in a similar fashion (although I prefer the salmon ). To give credence to their great hospitality, at exactly 9 pm (closing time), my server suggested I try their dessert. Surprised with his consideration and patience, I ordered the lemon cake. I was pleased the cake wasn’t overly sweetened—it was perfect, as was my dinner experience at The Leaning Tree!

Had an amazing birthday dinner here! I come from a NY Italian family and every item I ordered on the menu made me think of dinner with my grandparents. Great experience! Can’t wait to come back on a weekend to check out the garden

I had a truly disappointing experience at The Leaning Tree Italian restaurant for our 13th-anniversary celebration. We drove an hour to get there from Raleigh, only to find ourselves facing multiple issues. Firstly, the food was grossly overpriced for what it was. To make matters worse, when we received a hamburger that was raw, the female owner not only refused to acknowledge the problem but also became confrontational and threatening, insisting it was an “Italian hamburger.” It took immense effort, including input from three other employees and almost coming to blows from the owner, to finally have our entree replaced.

This is by far the best Italian food I’ve had in eastern NC. The food, service and the owner is a delight. Beautiful inside and the gardens in back are fabulous my new favorite date place❤️

What a wonderful dining experience! Our table ordered fried mozzarella, chicken marsala and baked ziti along with tiramisu and creme brûlée for a sweet finish. The food was delicious! Pablo, our waiter, was superb in meeting our expectations and exceeding them. We spoke to the owners on our way out and were greeted warmly and invited back to taste some the new creations which will be coming soon. This restaurant was an unexpected and delightful dinner for us. Go! You won’t be disappointed!

My Aunt and I, an hour from home, visiting the Bailey area today, were referred by our club to the leaning tree restaurant for dinner. First, even with iPhone gps which took us to the local Mexican Restaurant for some reason, this place is a bit hard to find, bc there is no Restaurant signage. It’s in a house, in a neighborhood, and you enter from the side street. With no parking available, a small sign outside mentioned something about parking in a certain bank parking lot nearby. No bank in sight, and we didn’t know where the bank was, so we ended up parking at the post office and walking back across the main street.. we Finally got there, and had a nice dinner, and all was well until we noticed later that evening at home, that our checks had both been added an automatic 20% gratuity and of course we both paid by card and added on the Tip line at least 20% gratuity,. So the Cuban waiter got a 40% tip from both of us. Since when do you add an automatic gratuity of 20% to a check for a party of two and then don’t mention it, and also have a tip line on the receipt underneath the total to add another tip, and a line to enter the new total?? Pretty underhanded practice to say the least. We asked about where it says on the menu, that if you share a plate they’ll charge you an extra $6. The waiter said there would be no such charge added to our bill. We each had our own plates of food, glass of wine each, a tea, salad, bread and desert. The prices are already comparable to fine dining, so why are you going to underhandedly charge gratuity without full disclosure? What a sour taste it’s left in my mouth. I probably won’t return and I’ll make sure to let the club know that I am a member of in that area, what happened when I was referred there for dinner. I don’t mind paying my bill and tipping well, but don’t rip me off!

As an Italian, I like this place for Italian food more than anywhere around! Nice place, great food and honestly the value for what you get is unbeatable. Been a few times now and will go again as long as they let me in.
