Wow. Call me totally impressed. I wasn’t sure what to expect and I was blown away by the food. We tried the Rueben and the Cuban sandwiches as I asked the server his favorite. He was torn between them so we tried both. Top quality bread/meat/cheese/spread on these 2. We will be back. Wishing you weren’t closed Sunday/Monday.

My mom had the salad and I had the turkey bacon blt. It was so freak’in good and it is extremely healthy for you. We had good service and they get busy bc the place is small. There is limited parking spaces and make sure to ask next door if you can park in their spot to avoid being towed.

Loyalist is a lovely cheese shop with great food and a lovely atmosphere. Great selection of cheese and meats for a party or for a great cheese board. Amazing sandwiches and salads. The liver mousse is a must for a start to the meal. Great beer and wine selection. Also has a nice selection of no alcoholic drinks. Amazing patio, one of the best in downtown Matthews. Always great service and perfect place for a nice meal .

What a great place near downtown Matthews. Really friendly staff, clean and pleasant atmosphere with nice music and local art displayed. My wife and I each had sandwiches which were delicious. We also tried the bacon wrapped figs as an App which was really good as well. (Though pretty sweet) Overall A+++ highly recommended.

A hidden gem! Happened to pass by it after a nail appointment and opted to stop in. Everyone was super friendly (they charged my poor dead phone for me). Split a salad with a friend, and they pre split it for us! Lovely selections. Adorable patio. Dog friendly.

I’ve walked by this place a hundred times and I’m kicking myself for never stopping in before yesterday. It was busy when we went and the team working was on point! They were urgent, friendly and courteous. Another thing worth mentioning is that the place was spotless. Not only is there a wee market with cheeses, tea, shirts, beer, wine, olives; but also a deli with cheeses and meats. They have a full menu and beer on tap. We shared a Cubano and I wish I had eaten the whole thing myself. We will return!

This is one of those reviews where I almost did not want to post it because I’d prefer to keep The Loyalist as a tightly held secret for all of us in the Matthews area, but that ship sailed not long after Loyalist opened its doors. To say that The Loyalist is the crown jewel of the Matthews food scene would be an understatement — it fills literally every niche, and does so with unwavering quality. First, and how I initially stumbled upon Loyalist, is that it is a gourmet fromagerie with cheese hand-picked the owner. The man has an unrivaled passion for cheese, and it shows in selection and quality, ranging from all price points. Secondly, they are a market of gourmet eats featuring local/regional items as well (it’s where I get my Marsh Hen Mill grits). Finally, they are a restaurant with some of the best sandwiches on God’s green earth (just follow them on Instagram). Oh, and don’t forget about the Devil’s on Horseback. However, none of this would mean much if it weren’t for the owner, Chris. Chris lives where he works, and is a truly a man who serves his community. During the early days of COVID, Chris was one of the first (if not the first?) in the area to step up provide free sandwiches to school kids who relied on lunch at school for their daily meals. He cares for his staff, just as he cares for his food, and it shows in everything the Loyalist does. Thank you to the Loyalist for making our community so awesome, and delicious.

I’ve been meaning to check these guys out for a while. I enjoyed my food and the staff were all very helpful. I appreciate the pace of the atmosphere. No one was in a hurry but everything was still being efficiently done. My favorite part was the key lime pie! So tasty! I’ll be back again soon I’m sure. Thanks for a tasty lunch!
