The Messy Plate Menu – Billings, MT

Type : Restaurant

Location : Billings, MT

Thank you so much for choosing The Messy Plate
Ever since Necco was a little girl in the back of her grandparent’s restaurant in the 1990s, she spoke of opening her own restaurant called The Messy Plate. As immigrants, her grandparent’s had a vision to bring traditional Laotian food to Billings to make a better life for them and their family. Years later, her father also followings in the family footsteps, is now the owner of one of Billing’s best Asian restaurants. Although Necco shares their passion, dedication, and love for flavors, she strives to create her own take on more non-traditional foods as a 3rd generational restaurant owner.
The Messy Plate is truly inspired by the desire to disrupt the concept of traditional foods.

Found this little gem almost by accident. One of the best meals I’ve had in a good long while. I ordered one of the breakfast burritos, and for a standard meal price, it was big enough to keep me full all day. Looking very forward to trying out the whole menu over time. The food was high quality. And my plate definitely got messy. Get the word out. Bring your friends.

So, I’m a big breakfast and sandwich guy. Having shopped for these at a lot of places in town. Given The Messy Plate a try a few times since I work nearby and it’s hands down my favorite for Sandwiches and Breakfast items in town. I’d literally drive across town for this food any day of the week, if I could.

This place was so worth the drive/parking downtown. The PBJ pizza was a perfect blend of salty and sweet. The tater tot casserole was freaking amazing and a 11/10. Service was kind and enthusiastic. Will definitely be back. Downtowns newest lunch staple!

I waited until I had thoroughly explored the menu to post this so I can share the deets with you. First off, this place has the BEST fried rice in town (eat your heart out Mia’s Wok). It has the salty, the onions, the egg, the perfectly cooked rice so it’s neither mushy or crunchy. Get it with a fried egg on top and you will swear you saw nirvana. Secondly, their breakfast foods are pretty amazing. Eggs never over done, tots never undercooked, and flavor packed into every bite. Third, you’re gunna have to fight for the barbacoa. It is so amazing that they run out regularly. Fourth, the pizza has a scrumptious sauce and piled high with toppings. The crust is the perfect thickness to not detract from what’s on it, but not be underfilling. Also, BREAKFAST PIZZA!!!! Fifth, the salads are large and not overly complicated. The sauce is perfect to pair with whatever toppings are on that particular salad. Substitutions unnecessary. Sixth, the sandwiches are large and varied. You won’t leave hungry no matter what route you go.
