In My Horrible Opinion
It was my first McCall visit. On a Saturday evening in mid May, we went by a couple other places closer to the lake & they were packed with wait times. There weren’t many patrons here.

This is another Classic Steak house!!! I am Carnivore and this meets all of my Meat expectations!!! Yummm. And a great atmosphere in both the bar and the restaurant…we stopped in on after a GREAT day of skiing at Tamarack on the Indy Ski Pass. We didn’t have a reservation so sat in the bar by the fire. Lovely.

Steak & Spirits, so we thought it sounded good for dinner. Seven of us gals, we ordered drinks. Told waitress right up front separate checks. Food was hit & miss for quality- asparagus hard & stringy, lettuce totally soggy, the worst margarita I’ve ever tasted. Asked for checks a couple times- finally went to counter to pay & she complained that it takes so long to do separate checks. Even complained about 4 guys at the next table needing separate checks. She was totally rude to us. Will never go back!

The place was empty when we went on Saturday the 15th around 8:30. First impression was that place was dirty. Food and dirt on the carpets, flies and gnats flying around, etc. Second impression was that the server was very loud. A bit earthy. Pleasant enough but loud for a steak house that’s not inexpensive, where most are looking for a quiet dinner. Food was mediocre. I got the salmon, which was bland, and my husband got the prime rib dip, I believe it was, which was pretty decent, but not enough to bring us back, considering the other things. The thing that pushed me over though was the handwritten check that the server presented did not match what I was charged when I received my email receipt. I inquired about the $4.00 difference and was told we were charged for using a credit card. Really?!? Who carries around cash at all, much less $120? Get with it, guys! We were very disappointed overall and will not be back.

Went to the bar around 7 figured it would be quicker to get a seat. Sat down showed ID to get menus drinks came quick, order taken quick, then the wait. 2 and a half hours later after being told they would check on it multiple times and getting no return info. Finally had to go to the counter to tell them to cancel the order if it wasn’t being make right then. By this time the bar only had 2 people in it they were closing in less than 30 minutes and had to ask about food and was told she was literally avoiding us cause she didn’t know what to say. Food came out a few minutes later and meal was discounted. I worked in food for many Years so I’m not the kind to throw a fit and be a jerk about it, but 2 1/2 hours is the longest I’ve ever had to wait for food. Seemed to me they either are extremely understaffed or the gal forgot to put in our order altogether. Eaten here before recommending avoiding the bar If your not just looking for drinks. Restaurant side is much more attentive and much much quicker.

My husband and I went there for our anniversary recently. The atmosphere is very warm, cozy, and inviting. The staff is absolutely exceptional. We were thoroughly impressed with the level of service. I had the Prime Rib and my husband had the Ribeye. We like our steaks prepared very rare and they did a wonderful job. The meal was delicious and overall experience very pleasant. I would highly recommend them, and we will most definitely return next time we’re in McCall.

The Mill is a good place to be for a nice steak with your friends. The food is great and the steaks are wonderfully cooked. Unfortunately, the service was quite slow, which was odd considering we were the only people there. It was also quite hot in the building, hotter in the building than it was outside.
