It is located inside The Morgan Library & Museum. It is an upscale lunch-only American restaurant, and you do not have to pay for the admission for the Museum in order to dine here.

Terrific elegant, sophisticated, quiet, comfortable dining “oasis” to enjoy while sightseeing in south midtown. Nice menu, great service, relaxing, and comfortable. A good spot for a break, even if you’re not visiting the Morgan Library itself. However, if you haven’t visited the Morgan, don’t miss it!

Great staff and excellent service. The food was also delicious and reasonably priced as well. I would gladly recommend this place to friends and family that enjoy visiting museums, as well as recommend this place to tourists visiting the city looking for a pleasant activity with great food right there. 5/5 stars!

Had a 2pm lunch with a friend. The atmosphere was nice, quiet, polite and a bit on the upscale. But not so pretentious that I felt totally out of place wearing jeans and a casual dress shirt. I’m not saying one should wear that here, I forgot my darned dress pants when packing to stay in the city for a week! Our waiter was very polite, attentive, yet nearly invisible. Perfect really. I ordered the oyster stew ($10) and the beet-cured Salmon ($22). Just water to drink. The stew had 3 oysters, 2 of which were tough. The flavor of the soup was well balanced. I liked how the vegetables in the stew were still a bit crisp. What I didn’t like was that the mere 4 oz, if that, of the stew had been microwaved!! How do I know. The stew was room temperature at the perimeter of the bowl and TONGUE BURNING at the center. Yep, I was fooled by the tepid temperature into thinking I could take a full spoon from the middle and burned the tongue. After that I stirred the stew and it was ok. My salmon, however was amazing. So many flavors layered one atop the other. Mouth feel was a journey as well. The smooth, coolness of the salmon, paired with the crunch of the horseradish, golden beet and fennel was very unexpected. Put that all together with the avocado spread and tiny rye bread…well it was just fun. Unfortunately, there were only 5 tiny triangles of bread, maybe six, I can’t be sure. That’s $3.66 to $4.40 per piece. The whole meal, my friend had a salad, no appetizer, we both had water, and no desert, came to $56 with tip, $72. I loved my time there, enjoyed the food, once the stew was stirred, and it was great to actually be able to have a conversation. I, however, did not like the price. But, then, sometimes one just has to go for it and enjoy the experience. Hoping that some of that helps support the Museum.
