The atmosphere is great, the service was great, the food was average. At a location like this and for the price that you’re being charged, I would’ve expected the food to be a little better than what it was. Yes, I’m the same person that will give a Mcdonald to five star, but I’m comparing that to other McDonald’s. So when I compare this restaurant to others like it, I think I expected just a little bit more. I’m not saying I would not go back. I would try it again, but it would definitely have to be a substantial improvement from the way it was when i had it. When I’m having $12 avocado toast I really want it to make me believe it was $12.

We chose to try this place to celebrate a birthday, and it turned out to be a great choice. They have classy ambiance and an old-school hotel vibe. The dinner menu has good variety that’ll suit just about any mood you’re in. I want to give them 6 stars for making a special order of something not on the menu for our picky kid; it was their idea too! Needless to say, there was great service all around. I had the bison burger; it was excellent and nostalgic of a really good burger joint. The broccolini had a nice char and kick of heat, too. The sauce with the mussels carbonara was super tasty. I could have easily filled myself up on that rye bread they served as a starter. Overall, everybody at the table was happy with their entrees (branzino, pork shank, scallops), and plates were left clean. For dessert, that carrot cake was warm, super moist, and darn near perfect. They poured us some complimentary birthday champagne, and it was top shelf quality. The National Exemplar exceeded my expectations, and I’ll gladly re-visit!

Good choice for breakfast/brunch, especially if you are looking for outdoor patio seating. I ordered the Trifecta with a side of toast. My husband had the breakfast bagel sandwich. We both thought our food was really good, but it took a long time to get it. And our service was severely lacking. If the food came out faster and we had decent service, I would have rated it 5 stars.

Absolutely delicious food. Try some bread and drinks. Intimate atmosphere, but there was also outside seating available

I love staying at the Mariemont when I’m in the area so of course my go to restaurant is in the hotel. I love the entire area but I love the ambiance and overall feel of the restaurant. I’ve had breakfast, lunch & dinner here. I just had the strawberry banana crepes but the eggs Benedict is excellent too. I love the prime rib for dinner or the filet. They have a decent selection for any type of person. The outside dining area also looks pleasant although I’ve never used it. Did I mention the staff is always friendly too. The entire experience is lovely. Everyone is polite and they’re safe with how they handle food since covid.

The overall experience was great. Our server, Sebastián was attentive. The drinks were unique and tasty. The mushroom soup was a must. I had the center cut steak and it was cooked exactly as I requested. The chocolate cake is very rich and huge. Don’t skip the carrot cake.

The best in the city, in my opinion. Has been for a long time. It’s just not as flashy or ostentatious as your Jeff Ruby restaurants or your Riverfront newbies.

I was here last weekend for a wedding rehearsal brunch. It was my first time and I was very impressed with the quality of the food, the service and also the atmosphere. We sat in a private room and were very well taken care of by the host. I also liked that there were private bathrooms in the room so we did not have to exit and walk all the way through the restaurant.

What a beautiful place. We had brunch. I couldn’t decide if I wanted sweet or savory. Chose the Hungarian Mushroom Soup for appetizer. Quite tasty. Took a bowl home also. We had lemon ricotta pancakes and strawberry banana crepes. For drinks, we had cappuccino, tea and water. Oh my stars! These helpings were more than we could eat but we tried our best. Our server, Priscilla, was very helpful. Thank you for feeding us.

We made reservations at the Exemplar on the Monday night between Super Bowl Sunday and Valentine’s Day. Little did we know it was $1 oyster night, a regularly busy night for regulars. The hostess took us immediately to the bar for seating at a table. Pretty crowded, pretty noisy with customers that knew each other. Being our first visit, we didn’t know any better.
