This tiny luncheon place is tucked into an old-fashioned and just slightly older general store. It definitely caters to locals (otherwise one would never think of it as serving GREAT food) from blue-collar folks to cops. The bulk of customers seem to be regulars who carry out their meals. The cook serves up an amazingly wide array of sandwich/ salad options–and on Thursdays specials like low country style treats like shrimp with grits and sausage. And the prices are reasonable. But bring cash to avoid the $5 charge assessed on debit or credit cards.

This is one of those places you absolutely must visit if you live in Columbia – a local staple. The food (particularly their rich and delicious soups) is absolutely fantastic – simple sandwiches and killer salads (including a Greek I’ve been told is amazing). The desserts are fresh made and absolutely delightful – the only downside is it can take somewhere between 20 and minutes and an HOUR to get your food – it isn’t a big place! Order ahead if you don’t have the time – or grab a hot dog from up front!

Well hidden in a residential neighborhood, a cherished oasis for the locals. Front half of the store sells groceries but the real shining star is in the rear. Here, delectable food is prepared the same as it’s been for over 40 years. Generous sandwiches with homemade soups and desserts. A taste sensation worth the trip. Absolutely delicious!

The other store has usually has been my place to go to get a nice snack, but today that was not the case. I came in with my friend and was about to checkout with Apple Pay. The man at the register told me they did not have Apple Pay even though I’ve used Apple Pay there multiple times. I didn’t want to cause confusion I seriously thought they took Apple Pay. But that is not the full problem, one of the older men that worked there told me if I didn’t have money that I needed to go. So me and my friend left to go get cash, so I come back in and pay to get my stuff again but the old man repeatedly told me that I just caused a hell of headache and repeatedly asked me if I had money. When I go up to the register it turns out they do take Apple Pay, and the old guy is just over at the back of the place talking to everyone about how I came in with no money and how I messed everything up. Thankfully another older man came up to me and said if he heard what was going on he would have payed.

I’ve been having they Greek Salads for almost 5 years. My mom recently moved here from PR and had yet to find a place she liked. After bringing her here one day for lunch, she was in love. The atmosphere made her feel like home. The people that come here are loyal locals and after enjoying their food you’ll get why. It’s such a nice and wholesome welcoming spot. There’s a side of the store with free books. And their coconut cake is amazing!
