The owners are so kind and the food is high quality, the kitchen is clean and well maintained. I have never had a negative experience, only positive experiences it will be back before they close. Rangeley will sorely miss this staple!

Great location, but pizza at The Red Onion is disappointing. Our crust was underbaked (even doughy under the toppings) and generally uninspiring. The toppings were fine. It will do in a pinch if you need pizza, but there are better options.

The Red Onion is a small local restaurant in Rangeley that serves American and specialty pizzas. It caters to tourists visiting Rangeley lake. The homemade lasagna, which was recommended by the waitstaff was mediocre, and certainly not worth the price. The Greek pizza was excellent: it was made with fresh vegetables; flavorful feta; and seasoned properly – deserving of a star. The ‘Pesto’ Pizza was an entirely different story. First, there was no pesto sauce (see picture below). Perhaps it was hiding below the cheese? No, not there. Perhaps I could not detect it. No, none of us could taste it, see it, or smell it. But it gets better. The staff (management, I believe) claimed that although the name of the pizza was “Pesto Pizza”, there was, in fact, no pesto sauce on the pizza – in other words, it was just a name. Seriously. There was no effort made by our waitress to remove the item from the bill, or offer an alternative. I do not recommend this restaurant, unless you want to be disappointed on your vacation.

Some very unique menu items including “flat fries” and “Rueben Pizza”. A great place to stop for lunch or supper.

Cilla is wonderful, and the food is great! We enjoyed our dinner of pizza and reuben. They make their own sauerkraut.

We ordered out on a rainy day. Pizza, chili and fries. Pizza is fantastic and the chili is killer and the fries even surprised us! Recommend 100%!

We arrived for dinner at 5:45 to a non crowdeddining room, ordered drinks, and then put our food order in at 6:10 and unfortunately, we did not receive our food until 7:35. We noticed that 3 tables who were sat after us got their food before us. The cook came out and yelled at us for speaking up and asking what happened to our order. That was interesting. As we were leaving, the server gave us a pizza. Even though they couldn’t admit it, they forgot or lost our order.
