Stopped by on a Friday night. Wait was reasonable. Bar seating gives you a good view of the staff working hard. It’s a bit loud and dim in here. Food was excellent. Swordfish “steak” was light and well balanced. Chocolate cake was also really moist and the perfect consistency. Service was extremely warm. Would come again.

This place blew me away! Great live music , amazing drinks, the snacks were absolutely what I needed. Incredibly fresh oysters. The Castlevatrano olives and goat cheese perfectly complemented the sweet Boulevardier. I will be going back to try more snacks. Decorations, vibe and mood were perfect. One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Oakland.

We visited this hip and artsy restaurant in the neighborhood the evening of 4/15/2023. We were greeted warmly by the hostess and the bartender upon entry. The space is bright and airy, decorated with whims of New Orlean-esque flair. The green booth seatings and the mix match of antique shop silverware, glassware and dish collections added playful nostalgia to the overall vibe. Our cocktails with cucumber and gin were refreshing and delicious. The number of items on the menu was on the smaller side, but the descriptions made them all seem enticing. We ordered everything to share, and they were Cesar salad, Matelote Stew with shell fish, shrimp and seasonal fish, and the daily special with game hen on risotto. The Cesar salad was superb, perhaps the best we’ve had in a while. We thought the real anchovies in the dressing made a big difference, and the romaine lettuce was fresh and nicely chopped crisp. The game hen was exceptional too. The thigh and drumstick were succulent, nicely chewy and very very flavorful. The risotto was well seasoned, a great company to the chicken.

The owner of this place is unhinged and treats her employees (and customers) *terribly*. I had an incredibly upsetting experience at this bar. My friend and I went here for some evening cocktails. While the drinks and service were impeccable, and all of the waitstaff and bartenders were super friendly and the ambiance was wonderful, we had an unexcusable encounter with the owner at the end of the evening. As we were closing our tab and the restaurant was closing, the owner came out of the back office area, and repeatedly yelled and cursed at us, while berating all of the employees/staff as well. It was shocking, inappropriate, and jarring to say the least. Her demeanor was extremely aggressive (despite nobody else engaging with her). Based on the bartenders’ reactions, it sadly seemed to be a common occurrence. I could not in good faith return to this establishment knowing the type of ownership and employee treatment I am supporting. Skip this place.

I want to give Rendezvous five stars, but I just can’t. The atmosphere, service and food quality were all fantastic. But the portion sizes are a bad joke. I ordered a Niçoise salad dinner entree and got a small lunch at best. Yes, it was delicious but I left hungry. My dining companion had it far worse. They ordered the halibut entree and received an appetizer sized plate. Again, it was delicious but look at this picture and tell me it’s an entree. We ended up going out for a second dinner on the way home. I really hope they can sort this out because I want to love this place.

The presentation is exciting the food is the best in the Bay Area. The staff loves making you feel special. My staff party was excited that we chose this for our party. Best food in the Bay Area. I am sure next year the will be on the Michelin top restaurant in the Bay Area.

This place is so good! I was welcomed and greeted with smiles all around. The ambiance is cozy and very unique. Unearthed murals on the walls and warm, orange lighting. It really feels like cozy nook far away from any busy street. And the food was absolutely delicious! I had the best tomato soup ever and a very tasty seafood dish. The whole meal, just spot on. Thank you!
