Originating in Houston in 2011 The Rice Box planted its roots on a corner in The Montrose district where it has had the privilege of serving reinvented Chinese classics weekly ever since. While opening the second truck in 2013 to operate at a local University of Houston, there was a reawakening of Chinese food happening; it was the right time to open our first permanent location and bring everyone delicious, elevated American Chinese take-out classics like General Tso, Sesame, Sweet Sour and Kung Pao Chicken our way, ALL the time, in any weather, every day!

First time here and it was great. The restaurant has a cyberpunk feel with steel and neon signs alongside digital menus. We ordered the orange beef with the house fried rice and sesame chicken with steamed rice. Everything was prepared perfectly and seasoned great. The chicken was very tender and the rice had just the right amount of moisture. Prices are reasonable for today’s expectations. Definitely will be coming back here.

A sort of fast Asian food in Rice village…fairly busy on a Saturday late afternoon. It was extremely hot and humid in there (maybe some issues with the air conditioning). Service was ok, not super friendly but not rude. The food took some time to come out but that may be because we ordered 6 dishes and appetizers. The food was good. The fried rice has a great flavor. The prices were very reasonable.

Vibe- This is a fairly new spot in the Rice Village area that looks super futuristic and cool. They serve Chinese cuisine. They have many vegetarian and vegan options on their menu so that was a plus for me 🙂

Food was great. Got the curry fried rice and added chicken and sausage, orange chicken and lo mein, dumplings, and the nitro teas. Really impressed with the curry fried rice, and portions were good for the price. Liked the atmosphere, but minus one star for the state of the bathrooms. Pretty grody.

I would’ve given this a 5 star rating but there were a couple of problems. We couldn’t get any sodas because they were all flat and couldn’t be served so we had to get lemonade instead. Normally I would’ve been fine having lemonade, but this lemonade just simply was not good. It tasted more like someone put a tiny bit of lemon juice in the water. My only other complaint is temperature consistency. Some spots in the room were really hot while others were cold. But enough about the complaints, the food was really good. I got the Candied Walnut Shrimp which I highly highly recommend with fried rice. It was delicious. Also the design was very aesthetically pleasing.

First time going, and we had a blast. Very Neo Tokyo Vibe. Would definitely recommend going at dinner time to really take in the whole neon atmosphere. Service was amazing, and everyone we interacted with was super friendly/helpful. We ordered several dishes General Tso, Sesame Chicken, Orange Chicken, Cumin Beef, and Garlic Green Beans. All the dishes were served super fast, hot, seasoned well, had great flavors, and the rice was point. Will definitely be back and recommending to friends.

Great selection of food. The customer service is supreme. This go around I went w a basic shrimp fried rice. It was a little heavy on the egg but it’s fine. The egg rolls (chicken or vegetable) are so good. Im also a fan of the teas that are on tap.

This place is unique. With its cyberpunk style. This place is like a scene right out of a movie. Cyberpunk fans won’t be disappointed. As for the food. I got the egg plant slightly crunchy but also melts in your mouth. It was very tasty. The menu screens are sweet before you order. And even the cups they give you have Asian style spunk to it. I highly recommend giving it a shot!
