Walked in and Monica, the owner of the restaurant, greets me with a smile and friendly welcome! I sat on the river and ate an amazing sandwich, The Mediterranean, suggested by one of the friendliest and knowledgeable waitresses ever! Then my new friend Tom proceeds to serenade the area with his friendly personality. All around great service, food and atmosphere. I even stopped by for paint and sip, which was an amazing experience! If you have a chance to stop by, you have to.

Great place to get brunch and dinner. My mom has been visiting me in Maine recently and this is her favorite place by far. The owners are so friendly and say hi to us whenever we go. The atmosphere next to the river is great.

If you have followed any of my other reviews you may have noticed that I rarely give a bad review, and this is because I haven’t found a place that is deserving of a bad review. The River Room Restaurant is one of the places deserving of a good review. On a whim, because our first choice had an hour wait for brunch, we tried this place. It’s located in a small local market and they have limited seating. Everything is made right on site and the kitchen is open to the restaurant, so really any of the bar seats are part of a chef’s table. Anyway, the food is outstanding. My wife had Short ribs hash with a couple of eggs. When the dish came out it was still steaming. She said it was a win. The short ribs were tender and the eggs were cooked perfectly. I had a small buffet of items. I started with a home made blueberry muffin that was to die for. A slight sweetness to the lightly grilled muffin. Then I had lemon ricotta pancakes. Those were fantastic, a slight lemon flavor, but over powering, followed by the creaminess from the ricotta and again with a hint of sweetness. Then I had to add a couple of eggs and toast. The toast was thick and fluffy, buttered and lightly grilled. The eggs were, again perfectly cooked. I also had to add a side of sausage. I got two patties and they were great. We sat at a bar along the windows and watched the river throughout. They have outdoor seating in the summer. They also now offer dinner, and I can’t wait to go back and try that. If it’s anything like brunch I won’t be disappointed, I just hope I can get in. Halloween is putting itself on the map in the food scene.

I love this place. The food is local and delicious. The owners are so kind and you get to look out at the Kennebec river and surrounding trees as you eat. Sunday brunch is great because it has such a chill atmosphere and they don’t rush you. (And the only place that can make me a perfect medium poached egg)

This place is the best kept secret in Central Maine. Extremely friendly staff (we had Olivia as our waitress) and fresh farm to table food. Great views of the river. Definitely check it out for lunch or dinner.

The chef really made our day. He was nice, quick, and obviously experienced. The owner was in and very nice. Our waitress seemed a bit anxious, maybe new? Overall great quality meal.

We just completely destroyed the chicken pot pie from here! It was so delicious I was practically licking my bowl clean. We also have bought the butter from here and that’s what I went back in for, local farm butter. As I finished the meal I was compelled to immediately write this review. Highly recommend this awesome local shop!
