We ate here twice while camping out at the nearby state park. The first morning we came in because our campfire breakfast was rained out with a HUGE storm. The service was so friendly and food so good we decided to just come back the next morning when we packed up to move on. Second breakfast was as good as the first! The outside of the building suggests it was the old US Post Office, inside is bright and cheery in red with a tin ceiling.

Home cooking. Debbie was our helper and is a sweet heart. The onion rings are delicious

We had breakfast here with my family, party of 10, just before I had to fly back home. My mom indicated that the pancakes were not as big as before. Me on the other hand was surprised of the size of the pancakes

My family and I took a trip down to Texas and wanted to try something new. The service was fantastic and the food was out of this world. The pioneer Burger with onion rings was the best burger I’ve ever had. They also had beautiful restrooms! Definitely will stop again next time we are down.

I have probably eaten here over 50 times. The location is in an area that used to be (still is?) the town square. There is a cute little park in the middle of the area. The restaurant is in the old Post Office, and you can see the old sign high on the wall above the entrance. The ceiling of the restaurant has the old style tin panels, which I am guessing come from the original post office.

Great food, freshly cooked homestyle foods. Made fresh to order. Best onion rings around the lake area! They are super busy on Saturdays and Sundays and Lunch time during the week. Never are we ever disappointed. Worth the drive to the small town for some big helpings of a home cooked meal. Their pies are fresh and saw dust pie is excellent! Big

The place is a nice little home town cafe. The food was good. The staff friendly and welcoming. Had catfish and it was nice and crispy and the fries reminded me of the way my daddy cooked them. I also had a slice of coconut cream pie and it was a dream. Will definitely be back!

Extremely overpriced. Was traveling for work and stopped in. I had the burger which was good. Burgers are around $10 ea with no side. My boyfriend had the chicken sandwich and couldn’t even eat all of it because the quality of chicken (couldn’t even cut it with a knife). The chicken was very thin and not expected for a $10 sandwich. He had a side of sweet potato fries and they were not cooked fully. I was extremely disappointed and will not return. Staff was nice and friendly but I was out of water most the meal.

Has a very down home vibe when you walk through front door. The serving staff have always been great! The kitchen staff is just phenomenal!! However even though all the criteria for a very enjoyable dining experience have been exceeded, I give ⭐️⭐️⭐️ simply because I have waited all my life to recieve a ‘The Roost’ tshirt, yes my whole entire life I have waited for one and still….I wait. I shall have one before I forget what reviews and ratings even are!!!!
