I needed some gumbo today so I headed to Rougaroux. This small restaurant has a great selection of Cajun food, with inside and outside dining. Every plate that came out of the kitchen looked delicious. I loved the gumbo – very flavorful, choc-ful of bite-sized yummines. The collards were too sweet and rich for my taste – couldn’t finish the bowl. Definitely one of the better Cajun restaurants in town

This place is amazingly good Cajun food. The shrimp poboy might be the best I’ve ever had. The bread was fresh and all the fixings made it really flavorful. Highly recommend this place if you love Cajun food.

If this place were picked up and dropped in Louisiana, it would not be out of place. Well, except for the whole “building falling from the sky” thing. Only thing that’s missing, here in Bham, is a nice swampy view. Food is always on-point, they take good care of you, and I’ve never left hungry. Keep up the good work!

We went when it first opened but because I didn’t have time to dine in, I just grabbed a link of boudin and the recommended bread pudding. This was my first visit. I only took a bite of the boudin. It was not good. Trashed it. That bread pudding? OMG! Had I known the boudin would’ve been nasty, I would’ve gotten a double order of the bread pudding! The next time I’m in Birmingham, I’ll definitely visit and will actually dine in so I can try the rest of the menu. Oh, I absolutely love the decor, the New Orleans theme and most of all the outside dining area’s floor is made of rocks. Loved it. If in a wheelchair, definitely don’t park in that back lot as you wouldn’t be able to roll on the rocks. I didn’t see the front entrance so I can’t say if they had a ramp so you may want to call if you’re disabled, especially if in a wheelchair.

Would love to come back. Need to try more stuff on the menu to see if they deserve the full 5 stars. Saying you are a New Orleans restaurant is a HIGH bar. They got the look. They have some great Louisiana beers and New Orleans cocktails. I had some oysters that were good. But to get five stars here, I need to try out more of their stuff. So far, great!

I would eat here every day if I could. I can’t get past the boudin, brussell sprouts, and bread pudding to even try the other menu items! Don’t make no sense! Excellent A+++++

It was the most expensive poboy I’ve ever had but it was good. The atmosphere is cool, the air conditioning is not. I recommend sitting outside to have a breeze. The service was adequate but not what I’d call friendly. Nonetheless, I’d go back.
