It is super loud inside. It might be worth it to eat outside in the heat if you don’t want to yell across the table. The food was amazing! We shared the “sampler” and a small plate of turkey. It turned out perfect for us. The live music was fantastic! Also, loved the sesame bread. It’s dangerous.

The food here was amazing!! Come hungry and get the all you can eat meal!! If you aren’t THAT hungry then any of their other plates are so good. And don’t forget to save room for dessert! Their chocolate pecan pie and their blackberry/peach cobbler with ice cream are the perfect end to a delicious meal.

No longer the best barbecue in Austin, BUT this is the one that started it all and put Texas on the barbecue map!

Super delicious! Our new favorite BBQ spot! You can bring your own drinks or buy the Salt Lick wine. They sell wine and beer in a small separate area (no kids allowed section). Picnic style seating. Def will go back soon!

We went on a weekend adventure in wine tasting. We decided to stop in a Salt Lick BBQ across the street. I heard good things about it and was hungry and anxious to try it out. The place is pretty big, it has lots of parking, lots of outdoor seating and inside in pretty big to. We were greeted right away and shown to a big nice wooden table with bench seating. We had plenty of room to eat and enjoy without bumping elbows with each other. The ambiance is family friendly, you can bring your own drinks inside (alcohol included), and the food came out quick. They have a $36 all you can eat, which my kids ordered and my husband and I ordered a rib and brisket plate. The everything comes with ranch style beans, smothered potatoes, and coleslaw. The meat was excellent! The sides were not all that. What they call potato salad, is smothered potatoes with onions. The beans had more juice than beans and the coleslaw was vinegar based. We also ordered the peach cobbler and it was terrible. There were hardly any peaches in it and it was full of cake batter crust, thick and sloppy. I don’t recommend it at all. Overall we had a good time there, but don’t go there to hungry.

Excellent food! I had the Turkey option from the children menu and it was more than enough for me.

The pulled pork, brisket, and smoked sausage was delicious. Pecan pie with ice cream did not disappoint; it wasn’t too sweet which i liked. Service was good no complaints, Karen was friendly and attentive to our large group.

Oh boy, this one’s out in the boondocks. If you come at night, it’s challenging to find. However, when you do, you’ll have wished you come earlier. This place has folks come in by the bus loads. The wait can take a while… but it’s worth it. Just look at the pics. Moist brisket, and the beef ribs were incredible… they were like pork ribs, meat easily falls off. Not characteristic for beef ribs, but you’ll see for yourself. The sauces for the meats are made here and they’re wonderful, but you don’t really need them. The meat is already juicy and seasoned… so tasty. You will prolly need a hotel close by, because the food will get to your stamina LOL. This is a must go-to establishment

One of Austin’s gems. It is a little out of town which gives an amazing opportunity to see some real Texas country and it’s very scenic.
