The Owners are very personable and the bartenders are delightful. We also like the food especially the pizzas made in the wood burning oven. We go there all the time. BUT, and there always is one, it is a “Sports Bar” attached to a sport venue like the Golf course. Yet all sports on TV have NO SOUND. Watching the 49ers game (or any other) without sound is totally unacceptable. And the music played super loud. At night club levels. I would love it if they disconnected that music machine during football season. We used to spend 6-7 hours spending money at this place last season. Can’t do it again until I am assured the volume will be on for sports.

Absolutely never go here. I ordered here for lunch. Everything was overcooked or burnt. I got a pulled pork sandwich. Don’t know how you manage to burn the pulled pork but it was and the regular fries were so overdone I couldn’t chew them. My wife got the grilled chicken sandwich, surprise the chicken was so overdone it was hardly edible. She got the criss cut fries which were also overdone and not edible. Unfortunately we ordered from doordash so we couldn’t get a refund but I will never go back. It’s sad because a few months ago I ordered from here and chicken sandwich was great. But the last few times have been so over cooked we always end up throwing most of the food away.

We had great food and service at The Sand Trap. They have a wood burning pizza oven and make great pizza. We ate there two nights in a row it was so good. Taco’s and karaoke on Tuesdays – so fun!

We had heard that the chef here was amazing, so we decided to try it out despite some of the previous reviews. The service was a little slow in the beginning, but once we had a waitress she was very attentive and could not have been more pleasant. The chef came out to meet us and offered suggestions on the specials. We have had a lot of great meals at many 5 star restaurants – our dinner last night was superb. We started with the fried asparagus and it was great, then on to horseradish and parmesan cheese crusted new york steak, pistachio crusted halibut, and finished with the cream brulee bread pudding. This was an amazing dinner that could not be outdone. Good job Chef Ben – we will be back.

Place went downhill from the last few owners. Pizza is super undercooked or burnt, none of the food here is worth the price. Probably the worst place in Chowchilla to grab a meal. Decent if you just go to the bar.

My friends and I went there about two weeks ago. I got there first to grab a table. The bar was full but the restaurant was not, but there was a large full table on the end with about 8 people. The servers brought me a Coke as I asked. Then my friends got there and they brought us menus. The waitresses never serviced our table again. We waited 40 minutes and still no service. They only kept servicing the one full table towards the back of the restaurant towards the bar. I noticed there was a another family of 4 seated in a middle table who were waiting and they had no drinks only menus. My friends and I got up and walked right out of the restaurant. We ended up going to Farnesi’s which is a better restaurant and we received good service there. I will never go back to this restaurant again. Terrible.

We tried them when they opened and it was a huge disappointment so we have not gone back. Also, in reading a lot of reviews nothing has changed since the new ownership so we had no desire to go back. They advertised they were open for lunch at 11 am so decided to try the lunch special they had advertised. My husband wanted to go when they opened at 11 am thinking the service would be better. With ALL the problems this place has had I said lets give them time to “warm up the ovens” as a joke. We walked in at 11:45 am (45 minutes after they opened). We were the only ones in the place. The owner greets us and I advise of the lunch special we BOTH came for. He immediately headed to the kitchen and we heard the cook say it’s not ready. He owner never comes back to tell us. The waitress comes over so I tell her what I overheard. She went and asked the cook and we hear him say “I already said it’s not ready”. She comes back to the table and advised the lunch special will not be ready for at least 20 minutes “the noodles are still cooking”. At this point it is 12 noon they have been open for 1 hour and the lunch special needs another 20 minutes. Advised no thank you we are on our lunch hour and only came for the lunch special you advertised. We left and ate lunch at home. Side note…the portions are small and very pricey, which is really sad for the community.
