This is a stellar restaurant. The food is amazing, intricate and unique. Chef Kwame and his staff are wonderful hosts. I loved the service. The atmosphere was very welcoming. Finally, somewhere a young, black man and his date can enjoy fine dining and not feel out of place. You should definitely make it a point to go here.

Wow. My husband and I don’t have kids so we spend our time eating and drinking through DC. I’ve had a lot of tasting menus, like Komi and Cityzen, etc. Shaw bijou in my opinion is more inventive and interesting because of its international flavors like Moroccan etc. and how the flavors come together in a very satisfying way. I also like how they start you in the bar, take you to the super cool looking and clean kitchen, to the dining room, and eventually back to the kitchen for some tasty bites. They also have a lot of really interesting stories about the food and how it came about. Plus everyone was super friendly and actually seemed happy to be there which I have not always found even in some of DC’s better restaurants. I had more than enough food and tried some new flavors I loved and had never heard of before. It was a success and one of the best meals I’ve had in my 20 years in DC.
