Went to the Smoke House on October 16 with my good friend Chef Marc Murphy , Emily and Miles. Must say it is some of the best BBQ I have had in a long time, I especially liked the ribs, pulled pork and the coleslaw, I almost forgot the amazing onion rings! The next time I am anywhere near Macon, MO I will be sure to be back. Thanks to Jim and Kristin and the wonderful staff at the Smoke House

It’s very uncommon to find a bbq/smoke shack that’s worth the money these days…sadly I was unable to find it today. Service was decent…friendly but lacking in attentiveness. On to the food. Ordered the outlaw platter (smoked brisket, smokedTurkey, and pulled pork) the brisket was decent a little bland but not dry like most, Turkey was probably the best on my plate, pork was flavorless like from a can or something. Had fries and potato salad for my sides…fries are delicious potato salad was good but not my favorite style so cant hold that one against them however…I asked for a half rack to go with an was told that before 1pm they were out of ribs!!! How do you run out of ribs this early in the day??? Was given “Texas toast” I’ve never had Texas toast that was the same thickness as regular toast, also never had it dry but maybe they do it different up here…anyways overall have 3 stars because unfortunately this sort of “meh” food is becoming the industry standard for meat places…guess I’ll have to open my own to get what the people deserve…stop dulling the food to appease the masses…season it right for the real meat lovers and let the haters eat mcdonalds… end rant

A lovely little place in town. Stopped here on our road trip back to NYC on a Friday night. The service was great, a family run place you feel right at home as soon as you walk in the door. The mixed drinks are fine but the local beer is maybe a better option! They had a good selection and it’s served in a frosty mug. The food was some of the best I had on the road. The ribs were really really good!! We Liked the dry rub seasoning and all the spicy sauces on the side. The pulled pork was also delicious. We ordered the ribeye medium rare and it came out cooked perfectly to ordered. Sides…the baked beans were my favorite and a gooey Mac n cheese. Definitely worth a stop in this town! Thank you to the smokehouse for a great evening.

Honestly if I could give them more stars I would. My boyfriend and I came by chance, on their opening night. It was crazy, crowded, and the wait was long, but it was well worth it. Our waitress Leslie was fun friendly and very polite about our wait. The staff in general kept a positive mood, had good conversation and remained calm with us. The food itself was worth every minute of waiting. Being from St. Louis, were used to pretty big names, but this place can compete with even the mightiest of the mighty! If I ever find myself back in Macon you bet your butt I’m coming back here!!! Also, the hats are a super cool keepsake and only $10, and the coconut cream pie is IMMACULATE!

This was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a restaurant. We get to the restaurant, order our drinks. After 20 minutes of looking at the menu a waitress that wasn’t even our waitress came and told us they were out of Pulled Pork, Salad, and Baked Potatos. This consisted of at least one item on everyones order at our table. After we had all redecided on food we over heard another waiter inform the table behind us that they were also out of Pulled Chicken. So after another item that we had decided on was also out of stock we decided to leave because nothing else sounded appetising. Typically I wouldn’t find this an issue if I hasn’t already given my diabetic son his insulin for a meal we were planninng to eat because our waitress failed to inform us of all the items they didn’t have on the menu.

The staff is very friendly. The atmosphere is excellent. The food has always been good. I would give it 5 stars if it had more variety of healthier options. The smoked turkey (Annie Oakley) is pretty healthy and good though!

Positive: I was impressed with the service. The atmosphere is also very nice and quaint, very good for date night. Negative: Food was not up to par in my opinion. The steak sandwich I ordered had to much fat left on it and the baked potato was overcooked.
