Your meal might have been cool, but was it a private table & special menu in the Standard Whiskey collection room cool? I dare say not! We had curated large appetizers, cocktails, and wine to start, with crab bisque and salad second course followed by Standard signature filet, seabass, and salmon, finished off by house made cheesecake, key lime pie, and coffee.

An all around phenomenal experience! Upon online reservation we received a confirmation call from hostess, Chelsea whom we also notified that there was a birthday in our party (a very nice touch you don’t find anymore when dining out). From there, she and the team got us first acquainted at the bar for drinks by the fireplace followed by dinner in a small intimate room.

Great dinner out. Impeccable service. They take care of each guest like they are the most important. Steaks were done perfectly, of course. Cocktails were on point, from the first French 57 to the last Espresso martini. And take some time to get to know the building, as well.

The Smith House is a beautifully restored ante-bellum Victorian townhouse in Downtown Nashville. Owned and occupied by the Smith family as their private residence until relatively recently, the building is now exclusively a restaurant, The Standard, run by Joshua Smith. My wife and I had early reservations on a Saturday evening right at opening, as we had tickets for the Opry later that evening. We informed the host that we were under somewhat of a time constraint. She promptly informed the wait staff and kitchen to make make sure that our service was as prompt and efficient as possible. We began in the beautiful bar with a martini for me and an Old Fashion for my wife. Both were outstanding. Once escorted to our table, we ordered the Lobster Dip, served with a fresh Italian baguette. It was heavenly. My wife ordered the Standard Filet, a 6 ounce Prime cut with onions and truffles. It was perfectly done to her order and cut like butter. I ordered the grilled rack of lamb, which was served with smoked peach preserves, creamed corn, and Benton’s Bacon. Perfectly medium rare. From the ala carte vegetable menu we shared bacon braised green beans and loade mashed potatoes. A fine bottle of wine from the excellent wine list accompanied our meal and we finished our meal sharing a slice of Jack Daniel Cheescake.

Amazing, personable experience. Hostess was very welcoming, informative and helpful. Waiter was very insightful and approachable with any questions we had. The building is very historic and the staff have endless facts on the details of it. The food was all amazing and freshly prepared.
