Quick stop before basketball practice. Boys loved their pizza. Their broccolini, cauliflower and fresh mozzarella were also delicious and flavorful. Service friendly and attentive and we were pretty much in and out. Would totally go back 🙂

We ordered the Caesar salad, Mediterranean thin crust pizza, a half bbq chicken and half Italian thin crust pizza, and drinks. Everything was very good and the pizzas and salad were large portions, plenty for 5 people. Additionally, the atmosphere was cozy-we sat by the fire-and the staff was friendly.

This pizza is a breath of fresh air if you are looking for a great Chicago-style deep dish pizza. People have opinions about this kind of pizza style, and that’s to be expected. You either love it or you hate it. But I will say this: it is absolutely great! The dough was truly fresh to me. An ideal mix of crispness on the outside and softer warm goodness on the inside. Buttery, and with a flavorful powder adding a bit of garlicky goodness. Loads of tomato on top. Not as much cheese on the inside as a comparable pie from somewhere like Giordano’s, but one might call this an advantage where too much is used and it just starts to get too oily and greasy. In my opinion, it strikes a comfortable and satisfying balance. It’s on my short list of favorite pizzas ever after having had it twice. The price point is a bit higher than I think a pizza probably should be. But it’s Portland, so what are you really gonna do? It’s remarkable quality. And I will definitely go back again and will recommend this if you’re looking for a pizza that’s a level for someone snobbier like myself who appreciates higher quality, but doesn’t want to stray too far from conventional classic flavors and toppings. It’s not trying to be trendy with unusual flavors or overly experimental takes. It’s what I was looking for: a dang good deep dish pizza that’s close to home.

The food here is always great, got the burrata and a deep dish. What especially stood out was the service from Lilly; she was friendly, had great knowledge of the menu, and even recommended a drink beyond the menu was a great call. There are many great restaurants in the area but service like Lilly’s makes me want to come back very soon.

My family is very picky when it comes to pizza and we have different opinions on what we think is the best. We tried a place a few weeks back we enjoyed but when we tried to order tonight they had closed to new orders. We had a pizza craving we needed to fulfill. I stumbled upon this place called The Star just ten blocks from home. And OMG we were not disappointed! We got one deep meatball and one deep classic and they were AMAZING. So amazing that my husband who is recovering from the stomach flu and was only going to have a tiny bite devoured an entire slice. I judge a pizza by whether or not the entire slice is edible with or without toppings. Sure the toppings matter but really – it is all about the dough. And the cheese. So much cheese and so fresh. The Star did not disappoint and we are super excited to try the thin and Detroit styles next.
