Amazing food. Smoked Bologna sandwich was incredible. Also got to sample their grit cakes which were really tasty too. An unrivaled selection of bourbons and conveniently located between two iconic distilleries on the bourbon trail. Highly recommended.

Just happened to come across this place, and we were definitely glad we did. It is off the beaten path for sure but worth the short drive out to it. I would recommend calling first or making a reservation because there was an hour and a half wait by the time we left. Our waitress was great. She gave us a rundown of the place and the menu. All fresh, local, homemade food.. and everything tasted excellent. We had an appetizer of Crawfish “cakes” over fried green tomatoes. We tried the catfish bite poor boy sandwich, and the Stave burger with pimento cheese.. both were very flavorful. And then.. the bread pudding. Just yum! Definitely recommend!

We loved everything about our experience at The Stave! Spent the evening there for a 60th birthday celebration after a day at the nearby distilleries. Food had unique t delicious spins on Kentucky classics. The wait staff were friendly, knowledgeable and really seemed to enjoy what they do. The treehouse wasn’t open but we certainly would stop there again to enjoy it as it looked great! Bread Pudding was to die for! Bartender was friendly and knowledgeable as he suggested a great custom bourbon flight which had pours from unique distillery which was the request. A magical night!

Amazing experience. More than a restaurant! Everything was impeccable! The lemonade and bourbon ball cheesecake were the best I’ve ever had! The blackened catfish as well as the pork chop were cooked perfectly and well balanced flavors and sides! All local ingredients and in-house creations! The only disappointment would be if you chose a different restaurant!

This is a great restaurant in a great location! It is not far from a couple distilleries and is off the “beaten path”. It is a very casual but yet nice setting. The service was really good and the selection of bourbons that they have is amazing. The food was also really good and my wife enjoyed the bread pudding for dessert. You might want to call for reservations because it seemed like it is always busy.

The only restaurant on the road between 3 distilleries, but they do an excellent job! Tasty food choices in the vein of southern comfort, but done up a bit. Excellent whiskey selection and well curated flights (recommend the chef’s pick!). Some great outdoor seating to soak up the wonderful weather and friendly and attentive staff who are more than happy to answer questions. Would recommend, but you will likely need to set up a reservation if you come during peak times! We were able to get a table without much issue right at opening, but they were almost full by the time we left.

If I could give this place more than five stars I would. The atmosphere is quirky and original and off the beaten path. It was just what we needed after visiting a few distilleries. We got the Kentuckian Burger and Pickle juice Fried Chicken sandwich, both were phenomenal and blew us away for the price. The fries and salad were just as good. The Brussel Sprouts were five star restaurant quality and the old fashioned that Lizzy made was delicious. The place is small and gets packed, I would suggest to give yourself extra time around lunch and dinner times. This place is worth the wait if you do have to wait.

This place just suits the area perfectly. Great staff. Clean. Great decor. But it’s really all about the food. Wonderful crawfish cakes, cornbread and burgoo!! But the star of the meal was the chocolate/walnut bread pudding.

Fun atmosphere, delish food & friendly folks. This is a can’t go wrong stop! Something for everyone! The bourbon menu is unreal! We had our year old with us who also loved the catfish… glad to see a nice option on the kids menu.
