Today is County Fried steak day. And I heard of a place in Zapata Texas that has some of the best country fried steak around. Well of course I had to try this mystical plate. I had the chicken fried steak with cheese and gravy. I know I know… I thought the same thing. That did not sound good to me at all. But I had to try it to see for myself and I have to tell you it was a great experience. You’ve had the old chicken fried steak before but the cheese changes everything!!!! It’s a totally different dish. The place was great. A large building with tables in the middle. The bar looked cool too but it was closed. The staff is very friendly. And the price point is not bad. The only bad thing is that I have to travel an 1 and half to have this dish. If it were closer I’d go all the time- but in my case I’m going to have to make an every once in a while kinda trip. Over all a great place.loved it!!!!

Was driving thru Zapata on the way to Brownsville. OMG what a amazing experience. After traveling around Texas, I had one of the best Steak and Shrimp I ever had. I highly recommend this place. Enjoy. Thank you Ashley the bartender for the excellent customer service and the amazing music videos.

The food was ok, I ordered a parillada plate and you can taste the the pan or black stone it was cooked on. I guess when you eat carne asada, everyone is use to Mesquite wood especially if you are from South Texas. I will definitely go back to eat there because I have gone before and all the other plates I have eaten taste perfect. The service was great, and the waitresses would make sure you weren’t missing anything. Really enjoyed lunch with my parents.

Horrible service in this place, waitress didn’t take our order correct, or kitchen didn’t read order correctly. Ordered a chicken fried steak with no cheese on the gravy and got cheese on my gravy. My husbands steak was a little over cooked , fries were under cooked. And the most unbelievable part is , the $10.99 I paid for a 12oz margarita that was blended in a regular blender and was more crushed iced then anything. Don’t let the name fool you it’s not a steak house but a Mexican food place. Food was Totally not worth the money we spent in this place for just two or us. If I could give zero stars I would.

Great prices for good food, the breakfast is phenomenal. I really enjoy the seafood soup, some people may not like seafood and that’s your prerogative but I do, and I think it’s pretty good. Take this as you will, I don’t mean it in a negative, but a steak house serving refried beans is a little out of the ordinary, but it’s a good thing they taste nice.
