Went here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Was on the spendy side, but honestly worth every single penny. The food was absolutely phenomenal. We had the jalapeño and cilantro walleye cakes for an appetizer, a bowl of the smoked goose chowder for our second course and I had the prime porter house and my husband had the kurobota pork chop. Everything was so delicious! Our server Paul was amazing too! Very attentive, friendly and helpful. A great experience!

Rob and the chef absolutely made our whole weekend. We had an amazing dinner for our anniversary and they reinforced why we love the North Shore so much. Thank you both!

I had a moment with my wife here that I’ll never forget. The place had just opened and was completely empty. We were the only ones there and had just sat down to enjoy a nice lunch together. When I looked up at my gorgeous wife, I was genuinely astonished at how much I loved her at that moment. I told her she was so beautiful. She looked up at me, saw the love in my eyes, and started tearing up and said I was making her cry. It felt like it was one of those once-in-a-lifetime moments where two people just spontaneously felt the precious and powerful feeling of absolute love for each other. I have felt much love for her over the years, but this was absolutely amazing. And then we got up and danced in the middle of that empty dining room. As we were slowing dancing in each others arms, I looked out at Lake Superior, and I knew I would never forget this moment for the rest of my life. I love you, baby.

Stopped by recently for a leisurely breakfast. 5 tables were occupied upon our arrival. We were seated immediately with a lovely view. And then it went downhill. We immediately ordered juice and coffee and placed our breakfast order.

Amazing meal and service. Walking in, I loved the ambiance – from view of Lake Superior, to the sophisticated, rustic decor. The host was very welcoming and gave me a great spot by the window. I opted for the caviar to start and surgeon for my meal with a glass of champagne. The caviar was wonderful – I liked the white fish and trout the best out of the trio. I also appreciated the raspberry sorbet palate cleanser in between. With the Sturgeon I subbed out the asparagus for wild mushrooms which were superb. The fish was cooked perfectly and the risotto was seasoned with a decadent lemony butter champagne sauce. So good. And the mushrooms went so well with the dish. Nicole was the server and she was wonderful!

My boyfriend and I had dinner at The Strand on 7/20/23. I ordered the sturgeon which was dry, overcooked and bland. The fact there was only 1 other couple should have been given us the clue to run for the hills. I wanted to have a nice dinner to celebrate our wonderful vacation on the north shore but this restaurant’s dried out sturgeon entree at a $90 was pretentious (if you charge that much for a dish, you have to know how to cook and season it to justify that kind of fish). The grilled asparagus that came was tough and stringy. For a high end snobby restaurant, stringy asparagus is such a cop-out and lazy side vegetable; but then again, perhaps it was a proper paired with grossly tough piece of fish; both made me wish for a dozen other restaurants that serves great tasting fish.

Food WAY under par for price. Service was not to par for fine dining either. Waiter could not explain menu items at all. My salad was decent, but I had to ask for it 3 times. Berry crumble dessert was super bland. Mushroom brûlée was a pile of mushrooms in cheese that was torched on top which gave it a gross burnt Parmesan taste. Asked for a side of asparagus and it was about 5 very small stalks. No bread service. Cocktails were weak and too sweet. Water even tasted weird.

From the moment we arrived, we felt the atmosphere was off. We had high hopes since we were coming back to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary at the very resort where we were married in 1998. Our server was in our opinion rude throughout our dining experience and rarely checked on us to see if we needed anything. With the menu options, available and pricing we were hoping that this would be an experience to remember and it was but not for the right reasons. So disappointing. The one bright spot was the meal was good.
