Honestly the food left something to be desired. No flavor with the vegetables and over cooked rice. Steak was wonderful. The waitstaff seemed less then eager to be there and seemed really overwhelmed to give any individual customer any real attention. The atmosphere seemed really outdated and really needs to be cleaned. Lots of dirt and dust on window sills, shelves and corners of the floors. Overall 3 out of 5 stars.

We Went for dinner. We were sat quickly and then the waitress took our drink order very quickly. The service was excellent, 5 stars for sure. We ordered the shrimp scampi, the chicken marsala and the kids chicken tenders. The pasta was mediocre, not a lot of flavor. The tails were left on the shrimp which isn’t ideal in a pasta dish. Overall it was a good experience we will go back. Maybe we just won’t get the pasta next time.

What a Gem. Located in beautiful historic Charlestown NH. My family and I were visiting the fort 4 and decided to check this place out. Food was amazing. Staff was amazing. This place is squeaky clean. Sign as you walk in says award winning burgers. I was skeptical being a burger enthusiast. But they were not kidding. So delicious and cooked to perfection. We are not local but will take the trip to visit this place again. Thank you Sumner House.

We were a large group that came in and they were very accommodating to us. So happy I called in advance to let them know we were coming in. The food was awesome! This is real cooking not warming up things in the microwave. I had the lobster ravioli with garlic butter sauce (special). Yum! They make there own pizzas, salad dressing, and the hubby liked the stuffed haddock. Lots of history with the building and very friendly staff!

I have never been in a filthier restaurant in my life! We didn’t even get to the food after visiting the restroom and observing a wall and baseboards that hadn’t been cleaned in who knows how long. If the dining room experience was like this, I can imagine what the kitchen looks like. Time to close for a week and do a deep clean!

This is a place that suffers from execution. The food has some shining moments with some quality ingredients. My mashed potatoes came to the table very cold, as if they had been previously refrigerated or frozen, when I sent the potatoes back they came back with finger prints in them which I assume they checked the temperature after microwaving the plate. BLT burger had soggy lettuce/spinach on it and the fry’s were old probably cooked in bulk. The best item ordered was the Mango jalapeño wings which were cooked properly. The menu needs to be cut in half its way to large and the kitchen staff can’t handle it without cooking things in bulk and serving frozen food.

We had a brand new server had to ask multiple times for several different things. She definitely tried her best she was very polite and attentive when she was able to be. I paid over two dollars for a root beer which i was assuming was from the tap but they brought me out a can of great value. That was slightly embarrassing I wouldn’t have ordered if I had known. I always order a smokehouse burger and I love mine with no pink I asked for med well once and got a burnt burger I could barley eat. Than I ordered it again as med and it was much closer to how I wanted but a little to pink for my liking. Their spinach artichoke dip is amazing definitely worth a try! And there creme brulee is amazing but IV learned i need to ask for it lightly toasted because the hostess/ waitress do it and they honestly really have a hard time and if I don’t ask for it lightly toasted it is burnt and I can’t enjoy my meal!!! The tables are kinda crowded when we sat four to a table. And unfortunately our waitress keep forgetting to take things off our table making it much harder to navigate. The bar part was awfully loud for 4 in the afternoon but thankfully we were sat in the other room. I also wish the fries were better I tend to not eat them being so bland

Nice place, I like the atmosphere and the laid back style. Food was okay, steak tips were more of tid bits and come as is (no temperature). My boy loved his pizza and we all enjoyed the artichoke dip.
