It’s been a month since I ate here, and I often think back on the gorgeous salmon salad and chicken nachos with fine memories. I’m not kidding, the blackened salmon in that salad was something you see in your best dreams. It was such a big piece of fish too- perfectly cooked. And the nachos were something extra special. If Bemidji wasn’t 14 hours away, I would go back right now!

Do yourself a favor and don’t go here just because you are at the hotel. I ordered the cheesecake wontons and couldn’t eat them they were so bad. PLUS this tiny, disgusting dessert was $9. PLUS they charge an extra fee just for using your credit card. PLUS some of the salad was brown. PLUS the avocado that comes with the salad was a very weird color and tasted old like they had tried to preserve it instead of buying fresh avocados. Plus there were bones in the boneless salmon fillet. Overall, very unpleasant meal, cannot recommended this place. See photos.

Food was really good. I ordered the Surf & turf and really enjoyed it. The staff was friendly, but a little slow, especially given how slow it was in there on a Wednesday night. Food did take quite a while to get to me but tasted great. They do have a “credit card fee” though. If you’re staying in the hotel, it’s very convenient.

Ate here for breakfast for a few mornings while staying at the Double Tree. Not only did my waitress, every morning, go beyond the call of duty, but every staff member was sweet and accomidating to the highest level. Both breakfast menu items, as well as the buffet, had great food. I recommend the Wild rice pancakes!

Visited The Tavern twice during a two week stay at the adjoining hotel. One time the place was packed and the other time I was one of the few people there. Both times the service was quite good. The walleye tacos were ok, the walleye could have used more flavor (whatever is needed to accomplish that). The burgers were also good. The best part were the massive side of cheese curds. Other than the MN State Fair, these are the best I’ve had! The portion sizes are massive and you will not leave hungry. The patio area is in a nice spot and very pleasant to eat at, with a slight view of the lake depending on where you sit. There is an annoying credit card fee, but that seems to be par for the course in the Bemidji area. Overall, good spot to eat, especially if you’re in the hotel.

The Tavern, they lack in service to put it plainly. It took 10 min to get a cola and a menu with No one other than one other person…took another 10 to 15 min to get my order in. And when the food arrived another 20 plus min later it was overcooked… I gave it another attempt a few days later and was greated with faster service but the pasta was super over sauced and overcooked box noodles with a few chunks of meat, the appetizer was brought out on a metal toster type sheet… small amounts of toppings other than cheese, melted cheese was Hella hard and did not eat because the chips seemed like they had lived passed their prime. Both times I let the staff know this was unsatisfactory and was not given a discount or anything for that matter… so I would not suggestthe food at this establishment. It lacks and for the price it’s just not there… Plus side was the bar and dining area was super clean and the drinks where made well…maybe a little stiff/ heavy-handed with the pouring at times but who really complins a out that?

Great food in a pub like setting, options of booths, open tables or bar side seating. We had good service while there, I enjoyed a pear flavored hard cider which was fantastic. The food was great, the walleye taco plate was HUGE all portions were bigger than normal. Reasonable amount of time to get the items out. The only down side is it’s a bit expensive.

Good food, not enough staff contributing to very slow service! But the staff present was great! One of the staff was sitting in a booth talking to a lady for a long time before getting off her duff and helping the other staff when people were coming in and getting up and leaving because no one came to get them drinks or anything! They lost alot of business this day when they had such large crowds at Sanford for Halloween event!
