After a few real dismal trips to The Trough, I decided to give it a try again. The outdoor seating area has been all glitzed and glammed and looks great! I had a green Chile burger and the burger was dang good! Fries were nice and crispy. Our server didn’t come by much so The Trough lost some beer sales but the experience was much improved overall. Bathrooms desperately need a deep clean, though.

This is a chance to see a word about McDonald’s coffee, since that is all we had on this short visit. First of all McDonald’s has a great deal. Special priced coffee for seniors which includes me. The coffee is not very consistent. At times it is better than others. The other problem is I happen to like decaf or at least half decaf. I know they probably don’t like to waste coffee, but very often no decaf is made. Their machines are fast but standing around to wait for coffee to brew is a little unusual. Still it is hot and usually pretty fast. And McDonald’s always seems to have employees that are happy and energetic.

The trough was a good place to enjoy a great meal for a fair value…was. The server was pleasant enough, but seriously lacking in attentiveness. We both had the mushroom Swiss burger one with fries and the other with onion rings. The upcharge was $4.00 which equated to$1.00 per very small ring. The burgers were also very much smaller than in the past. Needless to say, they have lost our business. This is very disappointing given that I grew up in this neighborhood and we really try to support our small businesses.

I was visiting my daughter and grandbaby, and we decided to try this place out that was just around the corner. We were seated quickly, but thats when the service ended. It was as though we were invisible at that point. Finally after about 15-20 minutes of being completely ignored we decided to leave. It was strange.. that they attended to the people that came in after us.. I doubt we’ll ever be back after our experience at The Trough. Not good.

The Trough used to be wonderful. I have eaten there several times over the years, and it has always been good – until now. The wait staff was disorganized and didn’t get the order quite right. That I can live with since it’s a fairly common occurrence these days; the real problem was the food. I ordered the Asian Chicken Salad for $14.95. For this price, I expect an appetizing salad freshly prepared. Instead I received a very ho-hum salad obviously straight out of a bag topped by a small chicken breast that was OK but not great. I hope this is not the new norm at The Trough. I will try it again and update my review if I see improvement.

Our waitperson didn’t seem to be having a very good day. The food was good, smaller portions than I expected, but plenty for me. Maybe they just seemed small because it was served in a little cast iron pan, which I though was super cute.

This used to be our fav place but today was awful! The fries were like eating rocks and the hamburgers were so greasy! Very disappointed! Our waitress was very sweet and friendly but the cashier we had was very rude! We will sadly not be going back. 8/12/23

We eat at The Trough several times a year, usually at lunch. The food and service are good. Great hamburgers. Eating outside is more pleasurable now since they upgraded their patio.

Nice upscale retro style, outside and inside seating. Good service when we were there. Sat. Around 2 pm so missed any rush. Food is good but $$. Beer on tap! Very relaxed vibe.
