I was hoping to have a nice experience but unfortunately it did not happen that way. My wife and I tried the meatloaf and fried chicken. The meatloaf was alright, but the fried chicken was not cooked. It was raw in the middle.

We recently made our second visit to Valley Fort Steakhouse since their opening. Found the place almost empty. Wait staff exceptionally friendly and pleasant. Salad was ordinary but fresh. The steak, very good and cooked to perfection, but the baked potato was cold and tasted old. Vegetables very soggy and the bread was stale. We suggest serving the potato freshly baked with accompanied dressings (sour cream, butter) on the side rather on the potato. The cold sour cream contributed to the potato’s cold interior temperature. Ordered a standard gin martini which tasted like iced water. Our waiter was great and did all he could to please us. We’re not sure we will return.

1968-1971 is when my Dad and I along with 10-15 coworkers would head to The Valley Fort for their incredible food ! . They were famous for their avocado salad dressing and homemade biscuits all you could eat they were beyond delicious and nearly floated on air. The steaks were perfection . Thick , juicy, mouth wateringly good. Steaks went to 32 oz . For the big appetites. Their dinners made my countless working weekends . I was 14-15 yrs of age then and my father sold recreational real estate at a place they called Lake Riverside Estates. Had a huge man made lake, free lunches and horse back ridding rentals ,tours and lessons, a pony ring, buck board and buggy rides and tours. All things horse I cared for, ran and handled every week end for nearly 2 yrs. It’s a desert area and got quite hot very early with no shade, 10 horses on average kicking clouds of dust all day. My throat , nose and skin were coated black from it. I had a blast every time and the days ended with the Valley Forts great food, great company, and my Dad. The people there were the best, felt like old friends from the start . Very comfortable. The place was like an old west town. There was an arcade room for kids, camp ground, old store , lots of authentic things to look at old mine area, and goats, chickens etc. The place looked real, not like a theme that just looks to new and cartoony. We always left there stuffed, relaxed and happy. I’d look forward to it every week and each time was awesome. When that project ended I was really sad that I’d not be having dinner and fun at The Valley Fort any more. After dinner the adults would sit and talk forever so I’d go out and walk the grounds. So easy to imagine it was 150 yrs ago and it was all mine. I’m very sad to learn that that which made it great was discontinued by new owners and the changes to the grounds, buildings etc. just ruined it really. It really was awesome, an experience each time. We sent a lot of people there back then and all raved about it. One of those gems so rarely had and I was especially blessed to have shared it so many, many times for as long as I did with my Dad and each time adding more wonderful memories to treasure. It’s especially so because a year later my father and 17 of the great people he worked with who felt like family were killed in a chartered DC3 hired by their real estate company . I dearly miss it, them, everything…….. I truly believe it was the Valley Fort and it’s staff that made it so much more than just a dinner with everyone on a working week end. Each night was like those really fun holiday dinners where you laughed hard the whole time. No one tried to do or go someplace different alone whatever. All looked forward to it and talked about it after. Says a lot when a horse crazy teenager gets to spend all of every weekend working with and ridding horses and as the boss wrangler who’s most favorite thing was being there for dinner laughing and enjoying the great food with them growing closer than most families but most of all the quality and bonding time with my Dad. With him being killed those incredible nights are a blessed treasure chest of memories for me often. Thank you to the owners and staff for all the great nights and memories you’ve given me then and now. God bless you always love, Kim S.

To call this place a “steakhouse” is an understatement. The food is served late and cold, and that was siting at the bar.My wife and I live within walking distance to this restaurant and we are very disappointed. Save your money, go to Z cafe instead!
