The walnut was very welcoming, and very well thought out. We sat at the bar and was greeted by the bartender Ben, he was a very outgoing and social young man that clearly loves what he does.

An impressive menu with some unique selections highlight the laid-back atmosphere of the restaurant. I’ve had many of the regular items and recently had the brunch for the first time. Top notch!

Ordered beer and appetizers. Loved the atmosphere and had great staff. I ordered a tall IPA according to the menu & price but only received a normal glass. Asked the waitress why and she said the brewery set the prices, but it doesn’t make sense why I still didn’t receive a 16oz beer when that’s what the menu said. Otherwise all of it was delicious. The food was awesome and there were lots of local brews, which I really appreciated. A nice amount of seating and TV’s to watch football on!

The Walnut is one of our favorite places to eat in Des Moines! Great service and they always remember you, so it has a small-town feeling in the city. There are several delicious vegan options too! The house-made vegan ranch dressing is incredible!

This is a great little joint with a fun vibe. Was there for a birthday party and we had a big group of around 30 people. They did a fantastic job of keeping up with us and the rest of the clientele. I rate places on how well they do. I am not saying it’s a 5 star restaurant but it was damn good and they made good drinks too. Recommended!
