We are a small town diner bringing back home cooked offerings and the lost are of hospitality. You will receive a warm welcome and an enthusiastic farewell. It actually smells like grandma is cooking in the kitchen. From our home made gravy’s and corn meal biscuits, to the fresh cornbread that goes with all lunch items, our food is just a bit different. It’s just the extra little love and bacon grease in our opinion. Stop in and offer us a chance to make you and yours feel at home.

HOLY $HIT. Excuse my language. But this is the best little diner we have had! The waiters were so kind. You order first and sit down (there is PLENTY of seating) or sit down and then order whatever you prefer.

This family-owned and operated diner is a hole in the wall worth a look. Situated back off of 27 on the southern side of Somerset, it is easy to miss. We stopped in for breakfast. I had the stacked cornbread with fried bologna and Shelli and a tenderloin biscuit with onion fried potatoes.

We’ve tried to eat at this lovely little diner several times and finally got our schedules straight and did so today. Tucked out of the way in the flea market in Burnside on the east end of Lake Cumberland, (across the street from the Reno’s and Gutheries) the Whipoorwill was worth waiting for.

This is a GREAT locally owned diner that we found. I am telling you what if you never had cornbread for pancakes… you are missing out. These were absolutely AMAZING… the gravy was spot on. Everything was AWESOME! If you are in Lake Cumberland area… Somerset or Burnside you have to check them out.

This place is a fantastic find. The owner asked how we liked our meal (which by the way was incredible!) I would rate higher if there were more stars to select. Hometown feel. Not fancy, but good food. Wonderful place.

In town visiting from Louisville and had heard so much about Whippoorwill! It was so wonderful and decadent! I had the Old Timers breakfast and the sausage and gravy was just perfect. My son got the make your own omelet and potato cakes which everyone at the table was jealous of! We will definitely be back. This little place is such a treasure. Wish I had it back home!

New in town, I decided to try the WD. Been back several times. People are great, the food is TOO GOOD (guaranteed to fill) and when I asked how their home fries were made a gentleman (I presume owner) gave me a lecture on the science of cooking pan-fried potatoes. Another time I was there with a friend who really knows the food business (ran one of largest food companies in the US) and he agreed. We were out on a boat all day and didn’t get hungry at all. Excellent family place. Funky furniture. A real Southern cookery.

The service was great! Super friendly and inviting! The wait wasn’t long at all and the coffee was great! The food was hot and fresh! A must visit. When I go next I’ll try the hot brown.
