At The Wood Shack, smoke isn’t just a cooking method, it’s an ingredient. We use a variety of woods in our smoker — hickory, cherry, mesquite, pecan, maple and sassafras — each chosen to compliment a specific protein. Bold spreads and sauces are combined with our smoke-kissed meat to assemble big-flavored sandwiches. Smoke is even used in our signature gooey-butter ice-cream cookies! There is nothing typical here.
Rustic hub for wood-smoked meats piled high atop sandwiches plus salads, wraps & sides. Based on 570 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.6 stars. Price $

Atmosphere: Tiny. The restaurant is super duper tiny and lends itself more for outdoor dining. Service: The cashier was friendly and welcoming. Great customer service! Food: I ordered the BLT and fries with cheese. It was underwhelming. It wasn’t nasty by any means. Yet, it left a lot to be desired in terms of the size. It too was tiny. The fries were delicious. The cheese sauce was bland. My hubby had the chicken salad. That too was tiny. Super tiny. He too had fries with cheese sauce. He liked the fries. He liked the cheese sauce. So…take it for what it’s worth. Try it yourself. I know we will not be back. We will stick with Blues City Deli simply based off the sheer size of the sandwiches @ Wood Shack vs. Blues City Deli.

What a great place! Food was excellent, and the staff was very friendly. I heard they were moving to a bigger spot soon, and it sounds like a really cool spot. I can’t wait to go back and get the Soulard Primer again.

Loving the new location. Did the inside bar and ran into some local friends. Bartender Rea knows her stuff. Good drinks, fast service. Michael was bringing food from the kitchen nonstop. My chili rubbed wings were perfect. My friend’s pastrami Reuben was sensational and his wife’s shrimp dish smelled wonderful as her friend was smiling while dipping the accompanying fresh bread in the sauce. I’m getting that dish for sure next time.

I went for a quick lunch and got the pastrami sandwich. The pastrami was a little under seasoned, the bread was delicious, and it was a good price. The menu looked great and i i’m looking forward to trying out their more interesting sandwiches. I’ll be back for lunch again the future!

Best sandwiches in St. Louis. What an absolute gem. We got the Soulard Primer and Three Cheesy Pigs and split them both. It would be hard for me to pick between the two; both were just perfect. Definitely coming back!
