I did read many reviews before I came , so I was hoping they were right. They were spot on. I had a hard time deciding but settled on the chicken fried steak ( one reviewer said it was best he had in Texas) . Well , I’m not sure I will go that far , as some breading did fall away from the steak ( I do know most people don’t make it to stay), but the steak was very tender, it was perfectly seasoned ( some restaurants are afraid to season food) the cream gravy which I asked for on the side ( can’t hide a bad CFS under gravy) I also had 2 sides with my meal , I got onion rings and fried Okra. Both were perfectly fried and seasoned. The onion rings were huge but very good , and the okra tasted fresh and just right crisp. I was very full ( ate everything, unusual for me), so I took home a piece of buttermilk pie and a brownie. I can’t wait to come back and try some other menu items.

What a great asset to La Porte! The staff is friendly, the place is very clean, and the food is delicious! I got the Philly Burger and it was amazing! The grilled chicken was juicy and flavorful. The onion rings are breaded in-house and well seasoned. Not a frozen product from a box. We regret not visiting sooner and will definitely be back!

Let me tell you something. This is only my opinion. But I just had the best tasting Chicken fried steak in Texas. And I mean that with most best intentions. I have been to so many places just for the for that item. This place set the new bar to pass. The New flavor Bar. The onion rings where so delicious. My wife had the chicken fried chicken sandwich and she loved it . I can wait to have other items on the menu. We will be coming back to the The Wooden Spoon Kitchen of Flavor Town

Just tried this new local restaurant and I’m already looking forward to going back! Doesn’t look like much from the outside, but inside is cute and kitschy. The food is all fresh and homemade and the service was friendly and helpful. We ordered the tater kegs (delicious with the jalapeño ranch), grilled pork chops, and chicken fried steak… everything was great! And then we topped it off with a piece of strawberry crunch cake… Yum! Can’t wait to try the sandwiches and burgers next time!

I love all the food/desserts, service & small town charm of the restaurant! Everything I’ve eaten is delicious, and the desserts are to die for! Some of the best servers around! I worked as a hostess & waitress in my younger years & this place has it ALL! Make sure you come for lunch M-Thur, because they’re only open for supper on Friday & Saturdays!

Celebrated my wife’s birthday with friends here. It was the first visit for all 8 of us at the table. We got sat immediately, drink orders were taken, and menus perused. The food came out in a timely manner and everything turned out good. There were no complaints and all plates were empty. We all had desserts and there were no complaints. The onion rings and brownie are highly recommended!!!! The only minor glitch was our chesse sticks were not hot, other than that, a wonderful experience! Everyone at the table said they will be returning!
