This has become my favorite restaurant! I am from Florida and make roughly two trips to Maine a year with my fiancee who is originally from Maine! On one of our country side excursions exploring we were driving by when we decided to stop and experience a true local Maine spot. This was six years ago and we go twice a year every year (when in Maine) and it is always a great experience with wonderful food! It never ceases to amaze how good and fresh the food is whenever we are there! So good in fact, that next year while in Maine for our wedding we will most likely have our rehearsal dinner there (and if they cater, maybe our reception)! You can keep your Ruth Chris and III Forks…. Give me Thompson’s!

Great food, awesome staff and neat diner atmosphere with local logging history. Came around with donut holes while we were waiting for food. Trying their donuts are a must, they are AMAZING as was all the items from the menu we tried over our three visits while we were in town. Whether we had dinner or breakfast we had a great experience.

Always stop here when we come to Maine. Great food at a great price. Very comfortable environment. And the owner walks the floor in the morning with a big basket of complimentary freshly made donut holes!!!!

Thompson’s Restaurant is a hidden gem in Central Maine and is certainly worth going out of your way for. Their Food and service are always really good especially their haddock. Thompson’s also makes a darn good Country Fried Steak!
