Truly a diamond in the rough and worth seeking out. These guys have some of the best – AL Pastor, Lengua, Verde Salsa, that I’ve had. If you are looking for legit Mexican that’s elevated then hit Tiera and enjoy a sunny afternoon on the patio with some great food. The brewery next door – Gigantic brewing – is equally as good, and has bonus points for being vintage anime origin themed.

For my first visit, I had the Tlayuda (pictured), which is a large, crunchy, pizza-sized baked tortilla, with refried beans, Oaxacan cheese, fresh cilantro, cabbage, red onion, tomatoes, avocado, and radish slices. I ordered it with carne asada (steak) and their “Amore Picante Salsa,” which was an absolutely fantastic, smoky and medium-to-very spicy salsa.

Superb mole sauce. The Mole Coloradito was phenomenal and the house-made blue tortillas are substantial and hold up to filling them full of chicken, rice and beans. The fact the shop is attached to a brewery makes it EXTRA enticing to stop in for a meal!

Authentic Oaxacan flavors. As a fellow Oaxacan, I feel I can say that with some authority. 🙂 Love the empanada de amarillo and mole plate. Can’t wait to come back and try more.

Got takeout here for my birthday, and wanted to try a wide range of options. We had the tlayuda with asada, asada, carnitas & al pastor tacos, red mole chicken enchiladas, the pipian (green mole) plate, and a carnitas tetela. I knew this would be a ton of food, but it fed 3 people for 3 nights—truly phenomenal value! While the tlayuda & tetela were new to me and both very good, it’s definitely the mole I’ll be returning for. The green in particular was so lovely, and the chicken was perfectly cooked.

I really wanted to like Tierra Del Sol, especially because they are in my neighborhood. Unfortunately, though, I was left unimpressed by their breakfast burrito. It really felt like it was lacking something to make it special. I like the tortillas, but they don’t make up for the overall flavor and texture of the filling.

Had the Al Pastor and Carnitas tacos. Unbelievably good, ready in 2 minutes. Would give 6 stars.
