Catering experience- awesome! Our association hosted an event at the local elementary school. We wanted to do a taco bar. Reached out to a bunch of places and things were really costly and could not be customized to meet our needs. Called Tio Mateo’s, immediately got catering information, menu accommodated gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan diets. Pricing was reasonable, service was kind and quick. Best part- everyone loved the food! It was a big hit. Will definitely work with them again!

Grabbed a take out dinner here – Mixed enchilada plate, tamales, burrito, and queso. Enchiladas were very good, especially the pork with mole. Tamales were tasty. The queso was much different than standard (much thicker, deeper flavor, really good actually!). The only letdown was the burrito – it was quite heavy on rice, and the ingredients were not distributed evenly. One half was pretty much just rice, and the other end had all the cheese, sour cream, and guac.

Tio Mateo’s has some of the worst Mexican food I’ve ever had. Idk if they’re aiming for authentic Mexican or something else but either way, it’s not working. The tortillas fall apart instantly and taste terrible. The chicken is SHREDDED and forgettable. But, the biggest crime is the refried beans.. super bland, totally tasteless. Just do a quick Google search for a recipe, guys. Also, with Mexican food, it is crucial to throw in house made hot sauce, limes and radishes. The staff is nice, the place is clean, very convenient location and people seem to like it there, but for me, I can’t justify the premium rate for subpar tacos.

I was craving a yummy fresh salad and will definitely be going back! The restaurant was inviting and clean. It smelled delicious inside and there were a lot of options. I got the chopped salad with chicken. I can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. Fresh crisp lettuce w great ingredients and friendly service.

The food is always so good whatever you get. Feel like a burrito it’s awesome. Feel like chicken salad it’s also awesome. Went there one day not expecting much and came out pleasantly surprised. The new location is down the street is really nice and they also now serve beer and wine.

This restaurant is seriously catering to the non authentic market. I asked for no sour cream and I get sour cream. Corn tortilla tacos? a single tortilla for the taco instead of double like every other taco. The refried beans are obviously from can. My order did not even come with limes, and I did ask for tomatoes and onions, never showed up in the order. My friend got the enchiladas and they are somewhat okay with the exception of the sour cream asked not to get. Usually when a place as gourmet it is never gourmet. A real gourmet place doesn’t advertise that
