Tip’s Ribs and BBQ is worth the visit. The minced pork sandwich with slaw is exactly how classic barbeque is supposed to be served. The meat has been smoked well, not overpowering, the sauce is tangy enough to cut the rich pork and the slaw adds just enough sweetness to the sandwich. Everything melds together proving why this classic style of barbecue will never go out of style.

Stopped by this place today and all I can say is… I’ve found the best BBQ in Virginia. I pride myself on being a foodie and Tip’s did not disappoint. The owner met us outside and began plying us with samples of everything.

Visited for lunch today with my partner. We ordered ahead and the food was ready. So can’t complain about that. Should have been a quick trip but we became memorized with the hospitality and wonderful conversation from the owner and his wife while the intoxicating scent of his smoker filled the air. Both my partner and I ordered the ribs and the BBQ. Both were amazing and none which made it home to the wives ( which the owner suggested might happen). If you are in the area do yourself the favor of stopping and filling you stomach and your soul. Places like this don’t after come around and I pray they open one in Newport News so that I can eat there daily.

Passed by this place many times, always wanted to check it out, so glad I finally did!!!! Absolutely some of the best food and nicest people you will find in the area!! Everything is SO good. This is now one of our favorite spots. I rarely ever write reviews, but this one definitely deserves my time! Once you try it, you will know why they are the highest rated BBQ place in the area on Google!

If you have not been to Tip’s Ribs-BBQ you are missing out. The food is fantastic. We are Oklahoma natives and smoked meat is what we do. Tip’s has been the best smokes meat that we have had this side of Oklahoma. Everything was delicious. From the ribs to the brisket, to the chicken and sausage links….FANTASTIC! All of the sides were flavorful and down right reminded us of true home cooking!!! Last but not least the sauces are great as well and are there if you like. Make time to stop by and get some of the best smoked…real smoked and seasoned Q that you will find anywhere.

I finally got to try Tip’s! It was well worth the wait! The ribs are delicious, slow cooked and tender. I ordered the mac and cheese, collards, and potato salad for sides and they were excellent. The homemade sauces he has for the ribs are unlike any I’ve tasted before! I got the sweet sauce and the spicy mustard and both were scrumptious! I’ll be putting Tip’s into my rotation of weekend restaurants that I frequent, for sure!

Honestly, I don’t normally write reviews, but this place made our trip home! The owner makes his food with LOVE! You will never have BBQ the same EVER again. Everyone was so kind to my husband and I! I was getting so depressed with our vacation coming to an end and this place just cheered me up and was delicious! We couldn’t have picked a better place to stop, honestly! The owner even came out after our order to make sure we had everything we needed. His sauces are BOSS! Totally never had anything like his food and the experience was with some of the coolest people I ever met!!!! You guys are AWESOME!

Tried this place for the first time and it was GREAT. That sausage is to die for and totally worth the money ( get their mustard sauce ) I also got a brisket sandwich dinner which would have been so much better if the fat was trimmed properly & had a bit more flavor. My lady got the fish combo (WHITE BASS WAS AMAZING). I wished the portions for the sideS were bigger tho, I loved the Mac n Cheese and the baked beans were ok, nothing to brag about but would taste 20x better if they had some type of meat in them. THE BEST BBQ IN THE PETERSBURG AREA HANDS DOWN & i will be returning sooner rather than later. Staff was also super friendly.
