Great atmosphere, good drinks, and awesome vegan options! They seem to only ever have one person on to tend bar and run tables, so you do need to have a fair bit of patience. I feel like they would do better to have at least one more person to help with that, but I realize that might not be feasible. Ashley, who is often the bar tender when we’re there, does a good job balancing everyone’s needs.

My now husband and I had our wedding rehearsal dinner here and it was awesome! Before finding this gem we searched through all of the many mainstream options the city of Rochester has to offer for restaurants and everything was the same; boring and overpriced. I then came across Toasted Bear Tavern, which happened to be the location of our first date 8.5 years ago. From my first communications with the manager Jesse he was amazing and eager to help. He went above and beyond, from meeting with us prior to the date to see the renovations and taste the outstanding food. To the night of the dinner, he was extremely easy going, flexible and personable. We would work with him and his staff again in a heartbeat! On top of the excellent service Jesse provided to make it a wonderful night, the food was out of this world. I heard so many times that night and even days later how awesome the food was and what a great time everyone had! I would recommend this place not only as a fun bar/ restaurant but also a great place to host a party.

Horrible service. I don’t think I have ever experienced such lack of motivation and acknowledgement of customers. The staff is slow and doesn’t seem to care about the customers or any of their needs. It took 10 minutes with a slow bar to ask the bartender to close out our tab. The food is good tasting, but either takes a long time to come out or they mess up the order. The atmosphere is nice with darts and pool, but that’s about it.

I get that it’s a bar, but adding something not fried or carb heavy to the menu would be amazing. I know there’s a rotating vegan dish (I’m not vegan, but a little more health conscious than the menu allows me to be), but whenever I go in, the bar is too crowded to go up multiple times to get the menu, ask for the special, go back and tell the party what the special is, and then finally go up to the bar and order. Then the food takes around half an hour if it’s a weekend. I just wish they had a permanent dish in the menu that is healthy and not a salad.
