We saw the article in the FL Times and decided to check the place out. The interior and exterior have been nicely redone, including a model trolley car that runs back and forth on a short track. We had mixed results with our food. The better half’s Chicken Breast Sandwich tasted good, but was too thick and maybe slightly overcooked. She had real trouble trying to bite or cut through it. On the other hand, my breakfast was very good.

Beautiful diner near downtown Lyons. The staff and owners were incredibly friendly, homemade sausage, and the flavor of the hash browns was fantastic. Great experience.

Pulled in right as they were opening. I enjoy being the first customer and having all the attention. The service was outstanding, and I wish I was hungry enough for the buffet. Definitely a little gem in a small town. I will definitely be back.

Tokarz Diner is just like being home. You can grab a coffee, get some food and have some of the best conversations with Amy, Todd, Lisa and Tina! It has that country home kitchen feel and the food is from the heart! If you catch Todd talking about his creations, he just LIGHTS up! Everyone treats you like family here too. I bump into other entrepreneurs and neighbors here too which always makes my day and it is great to have a place to meet up with my women’s group. I frequently come by just to say hello, grab a cup of coffee and enjoy their company!

Super nice service. Good home-cooked food, and they try to stay local with their ingredients, which I really appreciate. Very friendly, excellent dinner specials on Friday nights, it’s like a family dinner (meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy!). I have had a bunch of breakfasts there: the potatoes are great, cheese omelets excellent – they get their eggs nice and fluffy. Sometimes they have homemade sausage and gravy, can’t wait to try. I think they do a good takeout business too.

Place was empty, service was up and down had to ask for water refill and forgot my creamer for my coffee had to go and get that. Folks are friendly but seemed more interested in talking to each other then watching the only table they had. Most likely would not return but it is worth a try if you are in the area maybe my experience was just a one off.

Absolutely love the atmosphere there it is extremely child friendly! Ordered a hotdog order of fries an order of Mac salad for my two children to split it was more than enough to fill both of them with leftovers at the extraordinarily reasonable price of $10

Tokarz is a “winner winner Chicken dinner”. Don’t expect glamour or intimate dining. Do expect friendly service and great food. This is a family diner, with the whole family involved. A recent meal of pork loin was fantastic, moist tender, nicely flavored, with side choices of green beans, mac and cheese, sausage cornbread stuffing, and roasted potatoes. And enough room left over for homemade desserts. Hope they have the chocolate cream pie one night you are there. My husband beat me to the last bite. The crust was brownie-like dark chocolate, just to add another boost to the already chocolicious filling. Their entrees and desserts are all made on site. Our party of 8 took home as many extra sides as we ordered. They even prepared a vegetarian entree when they knew one of our party did not eat meat. They serve dinner on Friday nights starting at 4 PM, perfect for dinner and then a movie at the Ohmann theater. Breakfast is next for me. I know I’m in for a treat.
