I have dined at this restautant for years with mostly favorable experiences but I had a less than ideal takeout meal last night. The portion size for the seafood Pad Prix Pow was half the size of the other entree dishes I ordered (see photo). The restaurant stated that this was normal and that I could order a second entree to make up the volume. This would have cost another $16 so I passed on the offer. I later discovered that the dish was mostly carrots, had no scallops and 2 out of 3 mussels had not opened. I will not be ordering this dish from Tom Yum Thai again

This has become our go-to place for Thai since we discovered it a few months ago. The cooking has the taste of authentic Thai food, unlike others we’ve tried. Every dish we’ve ordered has been great, although my favorites are the drunken noodles and the curries. Lunch specials can’t be beat for both price and taste. I’ve done a small sampling from the higher priced dinner menu, and those few have been great as well. The chef is very good about accommodating requests (very mild, Thai hot, no onions, …) even for dishes where I didn’t expect it.

My dad and I were so glad we found this spot on our way to Fairfax for the weekend! We stopped for dinner and had a really satisfying meal after a full day of driving from Detroit. The food was delicious! Our server was very polite and friendly. The ambience of the restaurant was very comfortable and I appreciated all of the detail that went into the decorations. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we came back for lunch on our way home. So good!

We’ve been going to Tom Yum Thai for many years. It’s pretty good Thai food around this area, even my Thai friend enjoy their dishes, but that’s all before COVID. Their quality and portion has went down drastically since March 2020. We ordered back in May and was really disappointed – with the portion cut down almost half, no utensil for take outs, dessert-level sweetness for drunken noodle. We had to toss the dishes right away… We wanted to support local business and also thought their food quality might be impacted due to COVID transition, so we ordered again tonight. But oh boy, worst decision ever. This time, the drunkun noodle was not salty at all, I had to add salt myself; the crispy chicken was saggy and sweet like dessert…

We started coming here about a month ago and we’ve already been 3 times. The shumai is delicious as is the chicken satay. Ive had the fried rice and drunken noodle and was very please with both dishes. Also, the decor of the restaurant is quite nice and relaxing. Definitely worth a visit if you like Thai food.

Service was perfect – wait staff was polite, quick, and non-intrusive. The food was also delicious and the chief even accommodated my request to swap the cellophane noodles to the egg noodles for my dish. The restaurant was clean and the decor, underwater themed, was… interesting to say the least but could hardly negatively impact my overall experience. The portions are generous here, too. Their thai tea is very good. I will definitely be coming back next time I’m craving Thai.

Slow inattentive service. Incorrect entrees delivered while the waiter insisted it was correct even though everyone at the table had witnessed otherwise. Multiple items were incorrect. Food that was supposed to be hot was barely above room temperature. The waiter never checked back during service to see if desserts were wanted or if people wanted another drink service. They were not busy or crowded as we made up the second of two tables occupied. I am so disappointed in this place as it used to be a total favorite of mine. The food was absolutely delicious, but unless the service improves I’m unlikely to continue coming here. Maybe take out and hope entrees are correct?

I had the best seafood drunken noodle here. The satay chicken and the peanut sauce are superb, so is the spicy seafood salad and Pad Thai. The curry dishes are good as well. The only thing I didn’t like here is a chef special noodle with pink soup and strange sour flavor.

Decent Thai takeout spot. Portions are decent but the pad see ew lacked color and there was a piece of egg shell in mine. The crispy chicken basil was decent but the rice accompaniment on the side was a smaller quantity than most restaurants.
