Fun experience at Hole in the Wall! Was able to snag a reservation through Yelp and my husband and I came here after getting a light dinner nearby.

Excellent! My partner and I came here for a special dinner and got exactly what we needed. The second floor is gorgeous and has an option to be seated Japanese-style, which is what we did. (Wear shoes you can easily take off if you’d like to do this.) We ordered the cauliflower appetizer, mentaiko pizza, mushroom pizza (love that they have half-pizza size options!), and the mentaiko pasta. Everything was honestly so delicious that I could not choose a favorite. Service was wonderful and attentive. Vibes were 100%. All around a lovely spot.

We really enjoyed our meal here. The cauliflower was a pleasant surprise. It’s fun and it’s delicious. The mushroom pizza was amazing – the fluffy Asian bread dough and the flavor combo with yuzu sauce were heavenly. Not a huge fan of the miso pasta, too salty for my taste. Our waitress for Sunday night at the 2nd floor seat was nothing but wonderful. Would definitely come back for more of those delicious pizza.

Went here for the first time for a friend’s birthday celebration dinner and it was good overall. Food – tasty thick and bread, good broccolini, tasty pasta and good philly cheese steak pizza. Pizza is a huge portion so half size is sufficient for one or two if you’re sharing. I enjoyed the mocktail drink as well. Service- prompt, pleasant and professional. I would go back and try something else next time to work through the menu. Clean bathroom too. I would recommend this restaurant.

4.5* Tonari is one of the few restaurants of it’s kind in DC! The menu features mostly Italian items with a Japanese flair!

Absolutely beautifully executed and super friendly waitstaff. I ordered the Uni Uni Uniko pasta with caviar and it was stunning: creamy , delicious, flavorful, and wonderful. The burrata was unlike any I’d ever had before with orange and chili oil as a sauce. A combo I wouldn’t have thought of but absolutely loved. It was so good we asked for more bread. For dessert I had the black sesame tea cake which was delightful as well. There was nothing bad about this experience whatsoever. It can be a bit pricy, so be aware! Outdoor seating is cute. Definitely worth the price and experience. Highly recommend.

This place is a gem, if you haven’t been, you are truly missing out. Be prepared to eat a lot of carbs, but enjoy every moment. Also, highly recommend the sesame martini (not pictured).
